Went to the primary care doctor for knee pain and was given an x-ray then offered steroid shots.
Do steroid shots in the knee harm my bones since I have metastatic cancer in my spine and ribs?
I don't have any cancer leisions in my knees.

I would think not. Corticosteroid injections are are common relief for osteoarthritis pain and swelling with fluid buildup in the knee. Important point is that they are shot into the joint (you probably had it just below your kneecap), not into the bone itself.

In fact cortisone shots are a common short-term palliative measure to reduce bone pain from mets (more typically spinal cord compression) prior to radiation therapy.

Ask your knee person about "Monovisc" I have used it in various forms for about 8 years as I have no cartilage in my knees. It is great ( for me at least ) and it is 1 injection every 6 months.
