Pointing dog training, pointing dog competition, and hunting. Almost all include camping with like minded friends and camp fire chats and drinking. Why? It is good exercise. I hate to just walk. Getting out with my dogs in nature keeps me in shape. I truly enjoy watching young dogs mature. They have the pointing instinct, but do not know what to do with it. I am just training them to stop and point until I get there to flush the bird. My reason to get the RP last year in July was to get it over with before Oct 20. The start of quail hunting season. My son and grandson each had a 1 yr old dog that we trained. The weather produced a bumper crop of wild Quail. I did not want to be hindered in any way. This could be my last season to enjoy with my boys. We hunted with our dogs 3 days a week for 3 months.
