On the T levels: I think it's a guy thing to want Wilt Chamberlain-level normal T. When mine was tested, I was mildly disappointed it was "only" 431. And when Gary posted that his was 660, I wanted to throttle him. Boys will be boys.

I’ve never been a basket case, so can’t really understand it. Don’t know why. Good for lots of reasons, but probably encourages risk taking. Worrying about anything one has no control over is another area I find hard to empathize with. It has been said, I think accurately, that the ONLY thing we really control is our own emotions.

Rich, I’ll be overjoyed to get back to a T of 400. Right now it’s 3. smhair

Ken, I'm super proud of you.

I was a basket case, too, the night before my first Eligard shot. Some of it's the fear of the injection -- I remember posting to ask how bad I should expect it to hurt -- but mainly it's submitting oneself voluntarily to castration, even if only chemical. It just don't sit right.

On the T levels: I think it's a guy thing to want Wilt Chamberlain-level normal T. When mine was tested, I was mildly disappointed it was "only" 431. And when Gary posted that his was 660, I wanted to throttle him. Boys will be boys.

Thanks Rich. Is what it is, I guess we all just constantly adjust to an ever changing new normal.

Hi guys! First congratulations Gary on those numbers keep them coming, Ken you finally did had to join us hey? I was thinking about my 1st Lupron shot guess I just figured it was like any other shot and helped that I had a real pretty nurse and still had testosterone . LOL. I have gotten several epidural shots in my back for my degenerative disk disease and boy you can feel those buggers so lupron shot was pretty easy 2nd shot kinda stayed with me for a couple of days. The radiation was a lot more emotional for me I guess that's when I realized maybe this craph is pretty serious and I can't just blow it off up to that point even tho I was g-9 -pt3b- guess I just figured i would just tough it out and everything would be ok

Might be wrong, it feels like a shot in the arm or butt would hurt for a few days a whole lot less than 2 shots in the stomach. I feel like I got hit by an 18 wheeler. If it’s worse tomorrow I’ll be paralyzed. And I’ve got a colonoscopy on Monday🙄.

Question...I didn’t get too much into the weeds with the RO re prep. Does everyone get markers put up their but before SRT post RALP? Or just tattooed dots?

The markers are only placed in the prostate for primary radiation. You SRT guys only get tattoos.

one of the few advantages of SRT.

Thanks, sounds like no markers for me. One of our fellow members told me that her husband had the markers Placed before SRT started, in fact it was done the same day as his first Firmagon shot

As for today, I feel like I got hit by a bus. Stomach is super sore from the injections. Feel like I slept 3 hours even though I slept 8. No real appetite. Going to push myself to walk today, maybe lift some light weights.
Colonoscopy Monday, hope I’m in better shape for that.
One day at a time right now

I think I got my tatts during simulation, trying to forget all of that stuff. At least the tattoo artist was a cute tech.

Tattoos for me, then lasers on the RT machine line everything up. The mold done at the simulation affixes to the table with four clips, keeping you immobile during the zapping. On Monday, after the room is quiet fo the weekend, the mold is cold — techs told me one guy freaked out when they strapped him in one Monday.

Ive been doing some reading and it seems like it’s recommended that if you go on ADT, you should do a bone density test, and if you are losing bone density go on fosomax or something. Also reading about monitoring blood sugar, among other things.
No doctor ever mentioned this to me, including my RO.

Have you done any of that, or anything else to monitor overall health while on ADt? Has your dr recommended any if it? Is it important for short course ADT or only if you are on it more than a year?

Drs tend to treat their specialty, maybe my RO is only concerned about the treatment he offers, I don’t want to be left out there to figure this out myself. I don’t see him at all, until it’s time for simulation, I’m only seeing nurses

I tested Blood sugar today, and it’s alraedy up, 3 days after first shots

For your short course you probably do not need to be concerned. It may cause you to become osteopenic if you are not already, but the long term complications of using Prolia or bisphosphonates just isn't worth it in the short term. Fosamax is alendronic acid which I believe is a bisphosphonate. My oral surgeon told me that he will not work on anyone who has EVER had bisphosphonates. Osteonecrosis of the jaw is a major side effect.

I requested that my RO order a DEXA scan when he started me on Lupron. The was because I had already been osteopenic for over a decade, from around the time of my leg injury. So naturally I was concerned about more bone loss. Turns out the Lupron didn't make very much of a difference. I was low before and I'm still low now.

I think the guys on lifetime HT probably have more reason to be concerned, so don't worry about it.

But it is disturbing that doctors don't think to even mention these kind of things to their patients.

One full week since my first Firmagon shot. Which means my T is highly likely at castrate level for the last 4 days (96% get to castrate level within 3 days.)
So far, aside from the se’s of getting the injection itself, which lasted 3 days, I don’t. Feel any different. Even had sex last night, no problem.

I know it’s early, nurse told me a couple if weeks. But I thought it might be sooner since Firmagon is so fast acting. But I’m sure the brick wall is coming.

Ken--
Which hand did you use?
Seriously, low T won't necessarily prevent you from getting an erection, but over time you're likely to lose interest in sex (loss of libido). I've had sex a couple of times in recent weeks but it took a lot of coaxing.

Finished SRT yesterday. Lupron depot will last two more months. RO said T might not recover for a year, and he hopes psa will stay undetectable but if it doesn’t we’ll deal. He also said to exercise as much as possible to push through fatigue or laziness.
Rang the bell quietly out of respect for those in the waiting areas who have longer to go and brought cookies to thank the techs.

all the best to those of you ahead on the journey and just starting. Feels strange not to be anticipating a treeatment regimen. Think I’ll take a break from focussing on Pca.

Congrats Progressing. It is indeed a big milestone, but then it suddenly becomes... anti-climactic. After months - or years - of working toward this goal, with it consuming most of one's wakeful thoughts, and building your daily schedule around getting there... then suddenly, nothing. Just wait for the next PSA test, which at three months off, seems like forever. Just waiting. All that pent up anticipation, suddenly it's over.

You'll likely still feel like napping for a few weeks. Then life returns to... well, normal. If we can even remember what that was!
