Also I have been feeling more and more that most posts are posts about posts to the original post....If that makes sense. All too often members are not replying to the original but running off on tangents that ends up creating some of these RULE violations.
Yes! I very much agree. I call them "meta-posts" -posts not about
the topic raised in the original post, but about
other's posts instead. This is different from agreeing or disagreeing with sides of a controversial issue. Logo, for example, does it incessantly - sitting on the sidelines just making unhelpful comments about
what others have posted, and imputing motives to others. Often, meta-posts devolve into ad hominem attacks.
I wrote some proposals for new moderator rules and shared them with one of the moderators. He hasn't yet responded. I'll post the proposals soon.
