1) How did you find out,
PSA in November was 9.1. Doctor ordered bone scan and it was clear. Just got results from biopsy and the right side of my prostate has several GL 10 scores. Read a few books and consulted with my urologist yesterday.
2) how did you choose your treatment,
Based on what I have read and conversations with my urologist, I think I am moving forward with Lupron right away, followed by several scans that the doctor has ordered. The plan at the moment is to do external beam radiation. Some thought is being given to also starting off with high dose brachytherapy. In any case, we are considering inserting the SpaceOAR because of a longstanding ulcerative colitis diagnosis.
3) and how are you doing?
Understandably, I am in a bit of trauma. My life is built on a very solid foundation of faith in my Lord Jesus Christ, which helps me to keep things in perspective. I have a very close family who will support me through this. Right now, I just need to make the decision and let the words come out of my mouth to my boss that I am going to retire so I can put all of my focus on these more important matters. I am 67, and have saved for retirement, so I am not that worried about it.
A big unknown that I am also facing is an upcoming MRI to look at a small mass on my liver that was discovered in a recent ultrasound. That could definitely be a game changer.
