I had blood drawn yesterday at the 10 year anniversary of my prostatectomy. As you can see from my signature, my PSA showed its ugly head at 8 years(.01) and was at .038 at 9 years and 9 months. I'm hoping for no/or slow increase. I should have the result on Monday.

Good luck Ed. If it doesn’t turn out well are considering salvage RT?

Ed,

Best of luck for the results! In your signature it indicates the last draw was .38 not .038. Which is correct? Significant difference.

Yes i'm considering salvage radIaition if my PSA shows an increase. By the way, It was my mistake regarding the last psa, it was .038 NOT .38.

I received amazingly good news this morning from My DR. My latest PSA test came back as .009 down from .038. I don't know and frankly don't care why the previous 2 tests were both detectable. The only difference this time from the prior tests is no sex the day before. Also this time I was taking an anti biotic for an ear infection. Do either of these variations cause the drop in PSA?

YAY!!!

Great news.

With the prostate gone, sex shouldn't affect the result. Same for the antibiotic.

Congratulations!
As you said Ed, who cares why? It is what it is. You have permission to party! 😉

Ed,

Really happy for that excellent report!

As you said, who knows or cares why? But, personally, I would like to know why these jumps and dips occur, esp. to the degree you and I have seen. It's more than normal statistical variation on an admittedly sensitive test. If we only knew more about what was going on, we'd be better positioned to respond. Well, maybe some day.

For now, celebrate!

btw, what did your doc say about frequency of future tests? Every six mths?

Ed,

I wouldn't stress about the why--go out and party--whatever is your choice!

it's hard to know what's going on. But whatever it is, lol, I've got some of it myself. Right when ya think it's doin' one thing, it does another.

It's nothin' to complain about though lol

Good on ya Ed. I'm happy for ya.

Thank you for your support. The only other possibility can be is that the lab didn't do the Ultra sensitive PSA but the doctor assured me that it was the UPSA. I repeated the question every time and got the same answer from him. I'll be seeing him next week and will complain to him about the lab they use and the anxiety they put me thru for a year.
