“And if the space in all of us was condensed out, "... the entire human species would fit into the volume of a sugar cube."

This makes it slightly easier for me to believe the entire contents of the universe existed as a singularity. It’s still seems absurd though.

If there was a big bang, then it's possible that at one point all matter sprang from a single burst of energy into a single point of nothingness to create an ever expanding vastness of emptiness.

Best contemplated over a nice bottle of Scotch ...

I knew it, I knew it, I knew it!!!!!!!!!!!

Back in grade school my teacher would get mad at me whenever she would ask: Her -- "Frank what are you thinking about?" Me -- "Nothing"

My brain was simply thinking on it's existence and how small and insignificant we are, contemplating the nothingness of my existence.

Well, as a fraction of the matter in the Universe, each of us approaches zero - but what doesn’t? Even the Sun is hovering near zero. So, we’re all as significant as anything else that exists, with the possible exception of nothing - which could be on a massive scale - we just don’t know.

There, that’s my pep talk for the day.

Now, as for thinking about nothing - I find it annoying when I’m jolted out of that state. It’s a very pleasurable place to be.

Trying to ignore, comments made elsewhere that are just meant to stir up the abyss.
Wishing, certain points in the universe would be obliterated.
Phasers not on stun.
Arrogant, condescending points - to the gallows with that Null set.

"Aye, aye! and I'll chase him round Good Hope, and round the Horn, and round the Norway Maelstrom, and round perdition's flames before I give him up. And this is what ye have shipped for, men! to chase that white whale on both sides of land, and over all sides of earth, till he spouts black blood and rolls fin out."

“Trying to ignore, comments made elsewhere that are just meant to stir up the abyss.”

Lol. Though it’s hard for me to always let it go, that’s what I have decided to do. It’s just not worth it. The outrageousness of the comments are self evident - probably even to the sayer. You cannot reason with a narcissist.

yes, 'nothing' shouldn't be capitalized - it is that first step on the road towards something.

nothing=zip=nada=null, can't include zero because zero is something.

It's interesting about somethings, they frequently are really worth nothing.

Knowledge bullies, are they from Knebraska?
Sorry Cornhusker fans, gotta have fun.
Do you know what the N on the Nebraska helmet stands for? Either Nowledge or nothing.

Moby Dick, Star Trek, practically any Jack London story, Tom Clancy (the real Clancy ones, not ghost written ones) -- these are certainly not nothing, iows something, double negative - you are welcome.

I once wrote a program totally with negative logic, my peers were not amused.
As a two month old programmer I once found the limit of the number of nested ifs the software could handle.
21 good, 22 crash.
BTW at 21, the logic was flawless.
Also, if it weren't true it was pointed to, anyone?? Buehler, Buehler??
In keeping with the subject line.

The time has come, the walrus said, to speak of many things
Of ships, and snails, and sealing wax.
Of cabbages and Kings
Of why the sea is boiling hot,
And whether pigs have wings.

(From memory, without looking for the reference. If there are errors, I apologize)

This would seem relevant. (Oh, wait! If it's relevant, does that mean it's something, in which case it's not nothing?)

In my youth under the influence of nothing really,
but that nothing seemed to be laced with something else that was really nothing.
I had my first glimpse of infinity, both of the infinitely small and infinitely complex/large.
Strange yet comforting, certainly put me square into the reality of my nothingness.

If we are moving from nothing to nonsense, then how could it be complete without THIS:

T'was brillig, and the slithy toves, did gyre and gimble on the wabe
All mimsey were the borogroves, and the momraths outgabe.....

Or,

Listen, Billy Pilgrim has come unstuck in time

So it goes.

Or,

Do you know where your towel is?

I probably will too - tinnitus.
