Saw my oncologist for my first of two yearly visits. Waiting for PSA results. In April 2018, it was 21.xx. In October 2018, it jumped to 31.xx, the largest increase in years. Doctor still wants to sit tight, until something shows up in a scan. Will have to wait to see what this last one reads. With PSA reading as high as mine, you would think I would be lighting up like a Christmas tree.

However, doctor ordered a new chest CT, deeply concerned about spot(s) on left lung. Before they thought it was scarring, but he said he ordered a 2nd opinion and it was really conflicting. He asked a lot about my prior smoking history, said it looks like lung cancer, but not sure. I only smoked from age 50 to age 62 (I know, what a dumb time to start), but didn't think I had smoked long enough for cancer.

My Parkinson's is still my worse malady. It's a horrible thing to live with, as it can effect every part of your body and thinking. Progressing quickly. Only so much that can be done, and I am doing it currently. As I type this, my hands are shaking so much, they keep jumping off the keyboard. BTW, don't go to lunch with me, if soup is on the menu, it will be all over the table, lol

Purg, I'd go to lunch with you any day, if I'm ever upcountry. Shake till the walls come tumbling down, for all I care.
If it is lung cancer, don't go beating yourself over the head about your fifties. A lot of nonsmokers get it. The stigma is almost as bad as the disease. But here's hoping the spots are nothing.
Best wishes,
SP.

Purgatory,
I hope you don’t mind me saying so - you’re a hero for me. Your resilience is amazing, and inspiring. I hope you can get a respite from some of those challenges.

Purgatory- so good to hear from you. Somehow I was unaware of the Parkinson's thing. Please know there are some of us here thinking of you as you fight the battle.

Purgatory,

Glad to hear from you, my wife has a Parkinson’s related disease, dystonia, treated with same meds. She can no longer drive, confused from medication reaction, a medication removed, now she is clearer but must walk with rolling walker in the afternoons. She went from totally independent with all activities for decades on meds to moderately dependent on me for all activities. She was depressed before, more depressed now. I do get with angry with her since I continue to work to support her. I know you will persevere and be a survivor...

David -

I'd be happy and honored to "do" lunch with you any day, and ditto all the positive comments made so far about you in this thread by others.

You have been one of the long-term rocks of this forum, all of us profiting greatly whenever you give accounts of dealing with your challenges, and we say to ourselves, "this is how dealing with it is DONE! May I be as brave and resilient if such a time ever comes for me!"

Keep us updated as much as you can, and stay as well as you can.

Whenever I see "Purgatory" listed as a new thread's author, I know that thread is going to offer insight and inspiration as well as any thread ever does.

David, As always it is good to hear from you. Although usually it is more bad news, I appreciate your taking the time to let us know because I do care and am concerned. In fact every time I sign on to this community I first search any update from you with hope that you are sharing good news. Regardless you continue to be in my prayers.

Purgatory....blessed are the b@stards that grind it out. Never, ever give up. Lunch or dinner is on me anything, and I'm used to shaking. My BIL has had Parkinson's for 15 years, and he is doing OK.

Best of luck fighting the beasts!
