The VAC pump is needed to get blood flow. If you are getting blood flow with pills, that is all you need. Research says erections take 24 months to come back.

I am about 5 months post partial nerve sparing RP. I bought a pump the first week after the catheter came out. Look at it as a medical device that will exercise your unit while your nerves heal. Do not expect miracles. If want to use it for sex, get a set of bands to lock off what gets pumped in. I use it prior to an injection for better results. Note, do not use it after the injection, ugly bruising will be the result. Between the pump and a shot, I can now have decent penetration. I am still hoping to get back to "normal" with pills in the future. I just turned 58, so I should still of years of play ahead of me.

The pump for me felt weird, felt like a had an animal balloon between my legs, injections worked better for me.
However, I talked to another guy that had ED problems after surgery, was getting discouraged, and the pump seemed to have re-trained him and he ended up not needing anything else to get back to normal.
Bottom line, you try everything until something works. For me I ended up with Peyronie's, and an implant was the solution, very happy with it - but I would recommend trying other things first to see if one of the non-surgical paths work out.
