I never really thought about death and my own mortality, so it is a real shock to the system and quite sobering when you start hearing about five year survival rates following a cancer diagnosis. Well, since that fateful day over six years ago, it has been an unbelievable journey of highs and lows dotted with a succession of zeroes the past five years. Just got my newest PSA result and thankfully it is another zero. That makes five years since radiation and though I am somewhat reluctant to say the words remission and/or cured, I do know it is incredibly good news to have five years of zeroes. I certainly have paid the price for the path I chose, a life of 100 percent incontinence and ED ….but considering my Urologist said my PCa was aggressive, I am happy to be celebrating my 65th birthday next week and a future I hope continues to be filled with those wonderful, beautiful Zeroes!
