Your post was very thought provoking, like was said above, lots of varied responses. It made me think, I had to read it three times. I agree with a lot of what you said, but maybe I'm a glass half full kind of guy.
Not judging or being contrary, just a little puzzled why you would put "life" in such terms. Must be because I am one of those that says "Cancer is the best thing that happened to me. I appreciate life more, and appreciate each day." To make that more relatable to you, I'm not saying I wished for Stage IV cancer, I never wish that on anyone,or myself. Just I know my life was "meandering" along before my diagnosis, and from that day on, it definitely focused my future in crystal clear terms. You can certainly appreciate each day without having cancer, and for sure, I wish that would have been my course.
To use your terms,It's just that now that I've had those cards dealt to me, like a three of a kind in a high stakes poker game, you know you're probably not going to come out on top. I'm still going to play every day, and deal with the cards I'm dealt. Maybe going for an all-in bluff once in a while, I would win the pot, and kick this beast's arse. And like Capt.Kirk said "Engage!"
That all- in., every day, to me , is synonymous with appreciating life to the max.
P.S. Before Alephnull's reply gets yanked..right on I agree with you 100%
