You asked for it. Part 5 of the thread about nothing. Here is a link to Part 4, just to maintain continuity...

Woo hoo!
High school 1976, Intro to Theatre, teacher came in and took role and then left, he did this for the first 3 weeks. The last 6 weeks he assigned a student to take role.
No homework
No discussion
No tests
nothing (remembering proper case)
Easiest A that I ever received.

If I had time, I'd go back and find all 4 previous parts and collate the data...how many total comments, who is in the lead (I'm pretty sure it's alephnull), etc. But then, it would be something.....

If it's not me then we know the fix is in.
Because we all know if there's nothing to talk about, I can.

Umm, I'm not going to make something of another thread, but there's talk of competing with nothing and making it an ongoing thread competing for the length and breadth of the eternal nothing.
Have they not learned nothing about nothing. Which would be quite something.
What a bunch of cotton headed ninny muggins.
Friday Funnies are no more than a 2-3 day thing. Off with their heads.

81 even capitalized nothing, how rude, the dodger!

Long live nothing, nothing shall reign down upon them but the bare nothingness of this glorious thread.

For another nothing that is truly something--consider the Perfect Game in baseball. No runs, no hits, no errors, no men on base. 27 up and 27 down. And there have only been 23 of them in the history of the major leagues.

And then there was a famous asterisk perfect game: Harvey Haddix had a perfect game through 13 innings, and lost the perfect game--and the game--in the 14th inning.

All is well, all is well.

Thank you Chaucer (from A Knights Tale)
"In Greece, he spent a year in silence
Just to better understand the sound of a whisper."

The more nothing there is, the greater the wisdom.
But yet again, how can you have more of nothing, strike that from the record bailiff!

BTW -- My Kansas City Royals are out of the Central basement, 3 games above Detroit.
And folks, if they win today they will have for the first time this season won FOUR in a row.

aleph, and I believe Mr. Haddix was pitching for the KC Athletics at the time...late 1950's.

Ahh, Chaucer.

This applies not only to this thread, but to the reason we're all here:

"The lyf so short, the craft so long to lerne" From The Parliament of Fowls

He was one fine pitcher too.
He won two games in the 60 World Series.
I really have to like him as he/they beat the Yankees.

I guess I didn't know of him because I was really nothing then, less than a year old.
No opinions to give, ....yet.

It was Pittsburgh according to Wikipedia.

Career
136-113 record with 1,575 strikeouts, a 3.63 ERA, 99 complete games, 21 shutouts, 21 saves, and 2,235 innings pitched in 453 games (285 as a starter)
I'd give my left knut for the Royals to have a pitcher like him. Maybe we wouldn't be nothing.
BTW Toronto and Miami are just barely in front of MKCR. Just a few games and we will start the climb to the playoffs. ;) ;) ;)

While we're on the subject of baseball (nothing wrong with that!) here's something I spotted this morning that should raise a smile. Something being touted as the worst pitch in MLB history. Well, okay, that's debatable, but I think even I could have smacked this particular pitch for extra bases:

https://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/news/rangers-catcher-turned-reliever-might-have-thrown-worst-pitch-in-mlb-history/1ragaa2gkr2rg1mgqj10d4j031

OTOH, THIS is possibly the worst pitch ever. For one thing, she throws like a girl!

One more bit of baseball trivia:

On September 17 and 18, 1968, the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants played two games, and in both games the winning pitcher had a no-hitter. I'm pretty sure that was the only time it's ever happened.

Game 1 had Gaylord Perry against Bob Gibson--and the joke was that the only way to beat Gibson that year was with a no-no. Perry no-hit the Cardinals. In game 2, it was the Cardinals turn to no-hit the Giants, and a guy that was not a well known pitcher had the no-no: Ray Washburn.

Wow! MKCR are now on a 4 game win streak, which is their first of the year. Plus they finally swept a series, it was Chicago WS, but hey a sweep is a sweep.

Based on win streaks these are the three hottest teams in MLB.

San Francisco - 6 games
Cleveland - 5 games
MKCR - 4 games

BTW -- We are now tied with Toronto for the fourth worst record in baseball. The ladder is tall, but we keep stepping up to the plate.

This will probably be the only time I can say that about MKCR, so I did.
Back to your regularly scheduled nothing.

I've got nothing to say which is pretty appropriate, I've been fairly busy at work.

But MKCR are 5 games up on Detroit, and bumping Toronto and Miami.

Only 26 games below 500 with only 60 games to go.
It might happen, if we go 43-17 the rest of the season we can end up 500.
Come on that's only .717 ball.
cough, cough, cough

We're having a heat wave here in my home town. At first I thought it was nothing so I was going to post about it.

But this heat is really something today, so I'm not going to post about it.

I was thinking about saying something on another thread but decided I'd like to say nothing at all.

Speaking of nothing, MKCR have increased their lead over Detroit to 6 games.
KC holding steady at 370 while the Tigers are nipping at the heals of 300 with a 304 winning pct.

I bet you thought this thread was dead. Alliteration, an underestimated talent, or maybe just rhyming.

But it's still staying alive.
