"... plus two slide rules"
that certainly brought back memories of high school chemistry class (only place I ever used it). Some of us even had a leather carrying case that attached to our belts and we carried our slide rules around like that. How's that for geek chic?
I would maintain, BTW, that talking about
slide rules is in fact close to talking about
nothing, and thus appropriate here, since the use of slide rules these days by anybody is likely close to nothing, I would imagine.
And for those of you young enough to even wonder what a slide rule is (was), click and see:https://www.google.com/search?sxsrf=acybgnrxnt9v6celfurjhkdtpcdtrkxbsg:1575123591089&q=slide+rule+pictures&tbm=isch&source=univ&sa=x&ved=2ahukewi42p7qkjlmahvebkwkht0ibheqsar6bageeae&biw=1600&bih=758
But who in the world would use a slide rule today anyway, unless for nostalglc reasons?
Although in fact that might be the case for some.
Check out what some guy is asking on Ebay for a used slide rule from way back in the day! He may actually get a buyer, too!https://www.ebay.com/i/253880706202?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=253880706202&targetid=475515144901&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9011703&poi=&campaignid=6469981122&mkgroupid=79220336802&rlsatarget=pla-475515144901&abcid=1141176&merchantid=114692056&gclid=cj0kcqiaw4jvbrcjarisahyewpoxdszlhrwpewkflh4dgqe3fqeiioowslrhssc31no3vmrbqki7sq0aaqtkealw_wcb
