When I was first diagnosed and was doing my due diligence after I had seen two RO’s and three surgeons, I had a meeting with my primary care physician who is a cardiologist and an internist. I discussed my case with him I was hoping to get some guidance Or at least his thoughts on which treatment would be preferable. Halfway through the conversation, he stopped me, and said I wish I could help you but you know more about
prostate cancer than I do .
And that was when I was just starting out on this road .
Even recently when I was in the process of making a decision on SRT, when I told him my PSA had risen to .08 he was surprised that I was considering treatment for BCR because in his words my PSA was minuscule.
It’s a combination of, as I said before, there are too many things in medicine, to know , so primary care doctors as can’t be expected to know everything , As well as, we as a group don’t realize how much we truly know, so far in a way beyond the average patient That doctors encounter.
As far as us posting inaccuracies, it’s going to happen it’s unavoidable. As careful as we try to be, we are not trained or expert at reading studies. And most of us probably read so much that we can’t possibly retain it all with complete accuracy.
Fortunately, I suppose, there are a few people here who love to point out any in accuracy they find in another’s post. In addition everybody should know that anything they read here or anywhere else is something that they should fact check, if it’s going to be acted on.
We all have a responsibility to ourselves and to each other we are going to post advice
