Very interesting, alephnull.
Here is something that is very much OT, but I found it remarkable if true, and others may have noticed it as well, so that I feel like mentioning it.
In the article you cite there is the paragraph about
Ludwig Wittgenstein. In it there is an accompanying photo that supposedly shows him as a schoolboy standing near a classmate, who is claimed to be none other than Adolf Hitler. (The boy in the photo does indeed look remarkably like Hitler would have looked at that age).
Intrigued, I did a little websearching, and apparently opinion really is divided as to whether the boy on the left is really Wittgenstein, even if the boy on the right is really Hitler.
Apparently it's true that Wittgenstein and Hitler did attend the same school at about
the same age, which would seem remarkable in itself, but a number of authorities still maintain that that is not Ludwig in the photo.
This seems to be a good write-up about
the question, discussing the pros and cons as to whether the boy in the photo is actually Wittgenstein, but probably coming down more on the side that it is probably not him:http://www.strangehistory.net/2010/06/10/hitler’s-class-mate/
Again, sorry if this is getting a good ways off from the thread topic, but it just seemed so interesting.
