I had been wondering what had happened with this technique after seeing it publicized on TV's "60 Minutes" a few years back. It seemed like such a promising approach.
When I stopped hearing about
it I just assumed that it, like so many other supposedly promising approaches, had turned out to be just one more approach that never really panned out.
It's very encouraging to hear that it may have something going for it after all.
In the article that mr bill links, there is this:
"... by the early 2000s Halas and West had co-founded a Houston-based startup, Nanospectra Biosciences." Here's their website, which provides a very good look at what they're doing, and the potential promise of this technique for the future: https://nanospectra.com/technology/
(In particular, see the "Ablation of Prostate" discussion under the "Patients" tab)
Also, here's a really cool Youtube animation showing just how this technique works:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcizfedd06m
Like mr bill says, "Maybe, just maybe..."
