I have a lot of memories from about 73-75 regarding those VW buses. The biggest memory was that, after I got out of the USAF in Sept 73, and got back to GA and started back in Nursing school, I had a great trip back out to AZ where I was last stationed. It was spring break of my final year in Nursing school, 1975, and my girlfriend and I had planned a road trip to AZ. But my best friend(now deceased from oral cancer), who owned the VW camper bus, had emergency bowel surgery a few months before, and was really in need of a break himself. He asked if he could go, I said "sure", and we took his micro bus. My girl friend got a little POed at me for inviting him along for our trip, but it all worked out good, another person to share the driving with while my girl friend and I "napped" in the back of the bus. Plus I remember camping in the cold Mountains at Cloudcroft, NM about 4000+ feet above White Sands National Monument and later camping in the desert outside of Phoenix, it was very handy to have that camper. Good memories of those people and that trip and that VW Bus!
