Glad it went relatively well. Did you also get the antibody test? When will you have results?

Yes I got the antibody test as well.
They said 3-5 days. Although friends if ours who tested yesterday got results today on the antibody test (they didn’t test for the virus)
There were 400 pp in m community who were tested for antibodies yesterday, so no rhyme or reason I guess. I will post when I get results

I expect to test negative on both tests. If I try positive on the virus, I’ll act on it. If I test positive on either test, I’ll retest when I get to NY.

I hope the result goes well. NY may be out if you test positive for the covid test (not the antibody test). Wouldn't you have to stay home and quarantine to protect others ?

@gary, no he isn’t being tested. I’m more worried about bringing it home to him, from my trip, Not him to me. He has been 100% physically alone for 2 months, the only occasions he s been out if the house have been for a bike ride, or, just a drive to get some air. He went to a park down by the water last weekend, by himself, but there were lots of people walking a round , no masks so he just left without getting out of the car and found a bigger park, where he was able to keep away from people. So I’m not concerned. I did ask him to consider going home to Brooklyn when I got home for a week or two, for his sake not mine, but he’s concerned that if he did that he’d have more of a chance of bringing the virus back to us when he returns.

There is no foolproof way to protect ourselves.
I’ll be shocked if I get a positive result, as Wife and I have been super careful.

We’ll see. I’m having a very tough time with the idea that this is going to go on for a year or more, maybe much more. I’m sure I’m not the only one. Gotta just cope.

Congrats on testing negative for the virus. I'm not sure about the antibodies--it's probably better to test positive there, but there's so much confusion around immunity that I guess that's not really clear.

Safe travels back home!

Michael, I’d have preferred to test positive for antibodies even though we don’t even know if it means immunity

It was the names of the 100,000 dead in the U.S. (because we never had a lockdown).

Buddy,

Life is lived forward but understood in had-we-but-known hindsight. Nobody understood two months ago what a runaway freight train this virus was. Even a world viral expert got caught with his blinders on. I think most authorities and non-authorities tried to do the best they could with the knowledge they had. (I understand that you may vehemently disagree with that statement, but I'll let it stand as my very imperfect take on human nature.)

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/26/health/coronavirus-peter-piot.html

And most of us are still humbled regarding how little we know about this enigmatic disease. I know that you will counter that we are not acting, and have not acted, on what we do know. And you are right. But life is complicated and we are still trying our best to sort out what to do. Some behave stupidly; some have more sense. I listen to the disease experts who are wearing their thinking caps and try to sort out the best personal behavior in light of that. For me, the future is a very troubling prospect. While out on a walk with the dog, I encountered a 92-year-old masked woman appropriately distant who said in a voice filled with irony, "Why couldn't this virus have waited until I was gone?"

Plenty of people understood we had a runaway train headed our way two months ago. Health care professional rang the alarm bell, countries rang the alarm bell, even guys like me, who is not a doctor, nurse, or a scientist, rang the alarm bell, here on an infamous Healing Well thread (https://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=35&m=4185502). That was back in February. I noted Dr. John Campbell - who called it a pandemic at the end of January (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apvpfc7nfr0) - had among the best information available at the time, along with other experts, various CDCs, etc. Some laughed.

We had the example of China, and other countries, who had varying degrees of success combatting the virus (and BTW China is one of the handful of countries that had a true lockdown, and as a result few deaths compared to those who ignored the warnings, and didn't lockdown).

I understand hindsight is 20/20, but I'm not talking about hindsight. I'm talking about warnings that were ignored.

We've now passed 100k deaths, with no end is sight. People out, not social distancing, not wearing masks - as a badge of honor - spreading the virus. This is another alarm bell. Health care professionals are warning us we're playing with fire.

moderators really should advise a member in good standingthat they have deleted a post for whatever reason...you should not assume the threader knows why,,,even if they do...I realize I am not in the clique of perfect wisdom that resides here....I I am different...granted...but should not be treated different from anyone else here...and this happens all the time...just an email would suffice...I don't even want to know the reason...just let me know that you deleted it...sometimes I delete my own...this time I did not...I realize I am a bit "crazy"...but why would you add to that..you are not god...moderation is your mission..a personal agenda is not...stop it.I should at least know who the moderator is...it is not acceptable to have a rogue moderator out there regards...if you don't like me ban me...death by a thousand bites are for Zombies...not human beings..wake up...Prato sticks and stones...yes... words...My God...NO.....see what happens when you do not name names...one picks the Usual Suspects and could be wrong...is that so difficult to get

Buddy,

Your laser-beam focus is a needed perspective. Doubtless, when the final history of this pandemic is written, you will be proved right.

I know what you mean - I'd feel better for sure thinking I had a *chance* of some immunity. I'm glad you tested negative for the covid as well. Enjoy your trip !

On the subject of antibody testing, last Friday my doc recommended I include antibody testing as part of my annual blood panel when I explained about my nagging cough in March-April. Results: negative. This was also from Quest. If the result was positive, I would have questioned it. But since it was always unlikely, I think the negative reading is correct.

Pratoman: glad you made it home safely!

I'm not sure we're there yet with antibody testing. I saw reports, from the CDC, that up to 50% of the tests are false.
