first off my annual PSA is still <.1 as i enter my 10th year of post-treatment remission!
also my cholesterol numbers appear to be lower than they have been in years. only my LDL is slightly elevated (which is always the case) but much lower than last year.
for three months before the blood draw i was on a keto diet, and i ate plenty of fat. but i also have been hiking an average of 20 miles a week. i was curious to see how this would affect my numbers. i am on a "regular" diet now but always attempting to eat fewer carbs and sugar.
i'll know more after my physical on the 27th. i got these results from a nurse while driving through the car wash
Good deal, F8! So you ate more fat and most of your #s improved? Well, sounds like such an approach has worked yet once again, despite conventional wisdom.
I don't think we can draw that conclusion. I lost a few pounds and I drastically ramped up aerobic exercise and both of those will lower cholesterol. but it's pretty clear that the diet did not offset those efforts in terms of the numbers.
