I have this condition, and started to wonder if anyone else here does. It is a separation of the connective tissue between the right and left abdominal muscles, that can cause “doming” , where when you are contracting your stomach muscles in a lying down position, say, by doing crunches, , you see something popping out, like half a football, sort of like the movie “Alien” . Sometimes no popping, it just looks like a pot belly. But if you lie flat on your back, and lift your head, you can actually feel the diastasis (separation)
The reason I wonder is that after doing some reading I understand the following....
This condition is most common in post pregnancy in women (ok, ok, stop laughing at me 😂)
But more men have it than many realize and many if not most men mistake it for “just a pot belly”
Here’s where it relates to PCa... it can be caused by, among other things, a surgery that involves air being pumped into the abdominal cavity (as in RALP)
I have had it for decades, but only realized it has a name in the last few years. But I’ve noticed it’s gotten considerably worse over the last few years, and I theorize that is a result of the pot belly I developed as a result of Hormone Therapy.
Anyone else? If you have a pot belly, and think it’s a pot belly, check your abs as described above.
