I usually sleep like a log for about 7 hours. I stop liquids a few hours before bedtime, and rarely awake to pee.
A nap every afternoon.

I used to have sleep problems and restless leg syndrome. Doc checked ferritin (low) with normal iron and hemoglobin. Took iron supplements to raise ferritin and sleep problems and RLS went away. Low ferritin was from donating blood too often (every two months) so I switched to every 12 weeks. *

(From the For What It's Worth Department, FDA allows blood donation every 8 weeks, but Mayo Clinic (God Bless 'Em) has a 12-week interval because some donors like me develop low ferritin with accompanying problems) * I've since stopped donating blood; 50 years is long enough.

I've done two sleep studies....because I snore a LOT.... My Sleep Apnea isn't horrible but snoring doesn't help.

Second study sent me home with a CPAP machine that I never could get used to.... Other people here have mentioned over the years how the CPAP Machine changed their lives....just like the tv commercials say they will.

Brother Pratoman ~~~

When I set the clocks back this weekend for Daylight Savings Time, I will say a little prayer that the time change won't send you a curveball in your sleep patterns ...

We could consider winter hibernation this year ... wake up on a spring day in 2021 --- and maybe some of the headline news will be brighter by then?!! 😋😂😎☺

Cyclone, i really like the winter hibernation idea. If we could all stock up on food, maybe a lot of canned goods and freeze dried lol, and get 100% compliance, double LOL, we would eliminate the virus and we would all get a lot of sleep.

Prato, don't forget the vitamin D when you hibernate LOL seriously I'm kinda on the same schedule as Steve never ever hardly sleep past 3. I don't have a set bed time go to sleep when I'm tired last night totally exhausted at 7:30 went to bed slept till 12:30 when I had to get up and go the bathroom was wide awake took a nap for an hour this afternoon. I believe it is from all the years of working shift work, when I can get 5 to 6 hrs of sleep in a day I'm a very happy camper!!!! I'm very jealous of people that can get 8hrs of sleep a night! Most nites it's up 3 times to go the bathroom doesn't matter what I drink or how late I drink. Coffee, water or tea that's all I drink anyway. There's only one guy in our biking group that gets 8 hrs of sleep the rest of the guys average about 6 it's one of the topics we talk about a lot when we are riding. Have to chuckle thinking about when your with the guys in your twentys your talking only about 1 thing. Testosterone is flying high!! Now we talk about Dr.'s Appts. Sleeping, and our ailments how things change in 50 yrs!!!! LOL

Hello, I am a Respiratory Therapist and I work in a sleep clinic where we treat sleep apnea. As we age sleep doesn't get better since we spend less time in REM sleep as well as other factors. If you snore, have high blood pressure and if anyone has seen you choke or gasp at night, then a sleep study should probably happen. Sleep apnea occurs in at least 10-15 percent of the population. A higher percentage above 55 or 60. Most guys with PC are dealing with lots on their plate and sleep apnea can be another issue that can be treated. Talk to your doctor and get a referral if this sounds like you.. Steve

I will need some help to learn how to put by signature for RX on my page... 48 at dx, 4plus 3, highest psa 6. Brachytherapy done in Vancouver BC in 2017.

This sleep thing seems to have resolved, as the last few days, I’ve been back to sleeping 6-7 hours and getting up at 7:30-8AM. Weird but I’ll take it.
My thyroid tests, B12, all came back normal, in fact all tests normal, except Triglycerides, HDL, and unfortunately as I suspected, testosterone is down to 220 (268 in june) I wonder if the low T has influenced my sleep patterns, but then again, if that’s the case, why am I back to normal sleeping if that’s the case.

For answers to all your questions on sleep, read the astounding, great "Why We Sleep" by Mathew Walker, professor of neuroscience and psychology and the director of the Center for Human Sleep Science at the University of California, Berkeley
