I am sorry to share the news of the passing of our comrade, KMCLARK1.

He passed away earlier this week, after a 7-year valiant battle with prostate cancer.

He had degrees in Forestry & Civil Engineering, and worked in the engineering field.

He was also a National Guard member, had helped create a bike trail in his area, enjoyed music, and was an avid fisherman.

I will always remember his devotion to his family, and his tradition of celebrating important milestones, along the way.

Thank you, KMCLARK1, for your loyal brotherhood here. Thank you for inspiring others with your steadfast courage.

I am deeply saddened to hear this. I followed Mike's posts closely. He liked to post about the "milestones" along his journey -- usually the significant life events of his children.

He was so hopeful, and I thought he was brave. Without trying to be melodramatic, he was kind of a hero for me.

I will miss his posts.

Thanks Cyclone.

This is very sad news. Mike fought a valiant battle against our disease. In January he was hoping to get 6 months to a year but unfortunately it was not to be. May God bless him and his family.

One of the things he liked to do was close his posts with an inspirational quote from various sources. Here is one of my favorites: “Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength” – Mahatma Gandhi

Steve, thanks for linking to Mike's last thread. This bit really hit hard:

Milestone - Hug my wife and children every day and let them know i love them everyday.
This not a retreat from the battle, but a new attack to get me to live the important things.

Remarkable.

Deeply saddened by this news. I followed Mikes' posts for the past few years, his diagnosis was not unlike my own. He was indeed a man of courage, and showed the way for a life well lived. Milestones. Yes he looked forward to them, saw many along his final journey.

But we have not lost him. His words, attitude, and encouragement to others, live within me, because he spoke to my soul. I will keep the faith to try to emulate him and hold a place in my heart for his spirit and now for his family.

If they read this, know that we will now be watching your milestones, and you can be proud of the man that he was. Blessings to Mikes' family, please know that we were blessed by Mike's words and his quotes from the wise that he liked to sum up his posts along the way.
Very Respectfully, Wings aka Dan in So Cal

May we all learn from his grace and dignity, because sooner or later, we will face the same challenge.

Cyclone, thank you for sharing this news. As a relatively newer member, I didn't interact much with Michael but I remembered that he had posted a thoughtful reply to a question I'd posted last year with regard to sharing the PC news with our kids. He ended his post with words that stuck with me: "Be gentle, answer the questions truthfully and hold on tight. Best of luck to you."

Thank you, Michael. May the Lord hold you and your family in the palm of his hand.
