I come like a ghost from the past. Wonder how many of my old HW friends are still around. I still have PC, but I only see my oncologist once a year instead of twice. Only check PSA once a year, same lab since 2006. Currently it's about in the mid 40 range. My worse enemy is still Parkinson's. It has done more to destroy the quality of my life than all my other cancers, operations, etc. combined. I can no longer write by hand, a cell phone is impossible for me to use. I have endless hallucinations, nightmares and night terrors. I average at best about 3 hours sleep per night.
I am seeing a sound therapist, as most times my voice is too soft to hear. I eat little meat, because I am afraid of choking to death, as my throat closes tight as I swallow Enough of this, that's only a small part of it.

Hope other old timers here are doing well. Lot of new faces. I look on rare occcasion, but difficullt to answer.

Yes, indeed, David, it's good to hear from you.

As another one of the "old timers" on this forum, I also sometimes think about the older crew, the names I recall from the past, certainly including yours, and wonder how they are doing.

We have even had a thread recently from compiler, another veteran PCa comrade of ours from the past, so it is indeed good to hear from old forum friends.

It's certainly concerning to hear how the Parkinson's is impacting you, David, but If I remember just one thing about you from your past posts, it's that whatever challenge you were facing at the time, you always handled it like a true warrior, and spit in its eye.

I have to believe that's what's happening right now, and that whatever you're facing now, you're giving it one heck of a fight.

Just out of curiosity, regarding submitting posts on chatrooms such as this one, I seem to remember in some thread from the past that it might have been you who was going to look into getting a voice-activated inputting app, such that all one needed to do was talk at the screen, and an app would enter the words onscreen, and submit them to a forum when the talker gave a verbal command to do so.

Are you using something like that right now, or do you have someone at the keyboard typing in your speech as you say it? Just wondering.

But again, it's good to hear from you, and I hope your health situation improves.

And if it is possible for you to be with us again and participate in discussions here once more, even better.

Good to hear from you.

David,
Even us relative newbies (2017) are happy to hear from you whenever the spirit moves you.
My dad suffered from Parkinson's, including night terrors. Once he was visiting my sister and he put his foot through the window of the guest bedroom during an episode. It's a harsh disease. I hope you're getting all the support you can to ameliorate it as best as possible.
Richard.

81 - on the voice activated stuff, nothing works with me well, voice is too soft for such things to pick up my voice, even my wife's Alexa doesn't understand my voice..

Via the VA, I have good outside doctors that they pay for. 3 neurologists, motion specialists, pain doctor. All service connected via Agent Orange (the gift that keeps on giving). Funny, I got 100% P&T for the PC, but due to the way the VA accesses Parkingson's, they gave me 215% P&T for that alone.

Doctors call it the "Cruel Disease" or the "Malicious One". The Motor side is visible, but the non-Motor side might cover as many as 25 symptons that one can have. Some days more or less than others, they are all "invisible", but the patient realizes what is going on fully. And being a progressive and non-curable, it really gets into you.

I keep trying, no other choice that makes sense. Will be 69 soon, been fighting the fight since 2008. Just had our 47th Anniversery a couple of weeks ago, still hoping to make it to the 50th.

I don't drive much any more, only short local trips on better days. Have a nice Lincoln Continental Black Label the past 2 years, still have never seen another. Dealer beleivess mine was one of 50 made that year. With 400 HP, it's a rocket, but my street racing days are gone, lol. Boys and their toys,,its always been cars with me.

I see you Mel, see you are stilll kicking about too. What about Jet Guy or Sonny in FL?

So glad you are still squeezing some enjoyment out of life, David. I still miss our good friend Barbara Lee, and I check in here every few weeks to see how you are doing. Somehow my Lupus is still under control, for which I thank God daily. Thanks so much for keeping in touch, I hope things get better for you.

Sir, have always thought you have a lot of hard bark on you and that you can teach almost everyone else here lessons in resilience. Do wish you the best, hope you make your 50th and many more.

Hello, David. Good to hear from you, even if a lot of the health news is not good. We're all getting older, and with each year come new challenges, but by golly, we're still around. With the suffering you're having to endure in this life, I suspect wonderful things are planned for you in the next. As your name implies, your purgatory seems to be taking place here on earth, whereas for the rest of us it may still be in the future.
Anyway, keep fighting the good fight. I've always enjoyed reading and reacting to your posts.

David, it is so good to hear from you!
I often wonder how you are doing.
Sorry about the Parkinsons!
I hope you do make it to your 50th, that is a goal that we all would hope to get to.
And I'm sure everyone here is praying for you in their own way!

Take care Brother!
May God bless you and your wife!

David, Glad to see you have posted again, I check in often to check on you. I admire how you have been able to continue to fight so many issues while helping so many of us over the years. Happy to see you now have the VA/Doctor issue fixed and can get the proper and timely care you deserve.

Hey David, another "old timer" here, from early 2013 anyway.

Sorry to hear of your challenges, but glad to see you're still here to some degree. I hope you find ways to cope with the Parkinsons.

And congratulations on 47 years of marriage! That is an inspiring achievement. My wife and I just celebrated our 39th. We don't find a lot of long-term relationships any more.

I’m another old timer that is not active but just checked HW by chance and saw your message. God bless you for dealing with all the issues you have had and still have. I’m still cancer free but will probably need an AUS revision sometime in the next few years. Just finished recovering from a hip replacement but otherwise well.
Blessings to all the HW folks and especially you David.

Hi David,
you have been through a lot and are still going through it. Despite the news, it is good to hear from you once again. Time takes it toll on all of us and some of us feel it more than others. You are still an inspiration to me, and I am sure many others.

David so glad you checked in. I too am an old timer from 2007. I hope you make it to 50 years as well. Parkinson’s is a real dog. Hope your team can control the effects. If I remember correctly, your wife is/was a nurse. I am sure she has been a strong advocate for you. Praying for good for both of you.

Hello, David ~~~

Thankful for your update, and you are a testament to the power of LIVING LIFE to the fullest, one day at a time.

I hope that your ongoing medical care can continue to provide relief and lessening of the symptoms you have described --- and when it comes to both cancer and Parkinson's Disease, you, good sir, are a SURVIVOR!

Here's to your ongoing and ever-present tenacity --- your iron will --- and your steely resolve !

This quotation seems to describe you, and your daily philosophy for rising above one's health challenges:

"COURAGE is not defined by those who fought, and did not fall --- but by those who fought, fell --- and rose AGAIN. That is COURAGE."

May your courage remain undaunted --- and may the day ahead be a good one for you ~~~

Hi Dave I'm happy to see you're still around. You are one tough SOB. I really don't think about PC much anymore. A golf buddy was just diagnosed with a Gleason 7 and I was giving advice only to realize how outdated it was and how long I've been out of the loop. Life here is fine, my biggest problems are my knees, getting a new one in a few weeks.
Hang in there Dave I sure hope you get a break someday, you sure deserve it. Meanwhile I just came here to send a link to my golf buddy. I don't know if he'll post or not. Some just look and leave, others are here for years, Hey Tudpock.. I'll close as a voice from the past...... Ziggy
