First word to me in 2006 from one of the founding doctors of the urology group. In his defense he was pushing and 70 at the time and I was referred by my doctor who was retiring as well. "Here is what we do, we cut you from the bottom of your navel to the top of the pubic bone, then we go in and cut it out. Fifty percent will have erectile disfunction, fifty percent will have incontenence or both." In his defense he was pushing and 80 at the time and referred by my doctor who was retiring as well. This forum was a real help to me for encouragment and advice. I did end up with the Davinci robotic surgery with a younger member of the same urology group and he is still my doctor.

15 years. RP 2006. Stage pT2c, GS 3+4, 6 mm positive margin at right apex, +PNI Now 72 years old, great health and all bodily functions great except for this PSA thang contnuing to creep up.
PSA: 2006-.001, 2007-0.02, 2011-0.085, 2012-0.15, 2013-0.13, 2014-0.20, 6/2015-0.17, 12/2015 -0.23, 6/2016-0.26, 12/2016-0.25, 12/2017-0.326, 6/2018-0.3, 11/2018-0.415, 06/2019-0.446, 12/2019-0.482, 05/2020-0.5,
5/2021 0.648
Yes it is doing the PSA creep ever since the beginning. I am going to die smile at some point, but probably not from prostate cancer. Everyday is a blessing make the most of it.

56pontiac:

No doubt that your PSA is creeping up. Did you calculate a doubling time?
Are you considering treatment at all?
At 72 you still have a lot of living ahead of you, I would hope.

Thanks for posting your update.

Doubling seems to be about 41 to 49 months. I visited the radiologist in 2017 PSA was 0.326 got the tour and the talk about how it works. At that time he didn't think it was anything for me to consider doing. I am not considering any kind of treatment now. I will see my urologist next month and see what he says. My overall health is great far as I know I take no prescriptions of any kind and I weigh 177 lbs at 6 feet tall. Excercise three times a week. My plan is that I want to live as long as I feel good. If and when I don't feel good I'm ok with turn out the lights the party is over. smile Actually for me as a believer in Jesus Christ the party will have just started at that point.

Hello, 56Pontiac ~~~

Diagnosed in 2013, I joined this website in 2014.

Your post will give hope to new readers ---- your treatments have paid dividends for well beyond a decade ---- and when you're first diagnosed, HOPE is the lifeline that you need.

You're cruising through 15 years of "living life to the fullest" --- beyond treatments ---- and that's powerful for others to hear. That's a lot of extra candles on the birthday cake, since your original diagnosis.

I am forging ahead through my eighth year of survivorship.

I have taught school for over 30 years, and another group of high school seniors are turning in their last assignments this week --- and graduating this weekend.

These seniors were in my elementary classroom the year I was diagnosed --- and now they are graduating!

In a unique twist ---- due to the pandemic --- I became the online teacher for all the online seniors this year ---- the very same students who had once been my former elementary students when I was first diagnosed.

Meaningful, beyond words! They graduate this weekend!

Thanks for sharing your story of long-term survivorship!

Thankful to read your post ---- let us know how your upcoming consultation goes --- and let us know how you're faring.

Your story resonates --- it resounds -- it uplifts --- it fosters and instills HOPE!

Best to you ~~~

Duke68,
Man, you have been hanging in there a long time. It gives me some hope that it's possible the ADT can keep me hanging in there for a long time too.
Thanks for your post.

Wow Pontiac, sounds like you and I are on the same journey. I'm 73, had DaVinci at City of Hope in 2005. Gleason 3+4, PSA = 4. Easy surgery, a positive margin. PSA was <0.1 thru June '11=0.06 (first ultra-sensitive test). Then started to creep: '12=0.11, '13=0.10, '14=0.15, '15=0.19, '16=0.26, '17=0.31, '18=0.41, '19=0.51, '20=0.55, Feb '21=0.57. Doubling time around 3 years. Amazing how close our numbers are. Had MRI and PET scan a couple years ago, both negative. Consultation between my uro and rad doc (strong input from me) came to agreement to continue PSA test every 6 months and watch for any spikes. So far no further treatment. Health is great, everything functions. Nice to see someone else following the same path. Good luck to you!!
