The vacant house across the street is tenanted by a family of 5 trash pandas (raccoons) in the attic and 6 deer in the back yard. This on a standard 50' x 150' city lot. Also 1 incredibly destructive (and foul tempered) red squirrel in a big spruce. Our Lab keeps the deer on the other side of the fence, but the bunnies aren't afraid of her at all.
I once put in wine grapes and got them to fruit nicely with lots of loving care. Then a bunch of ants I had never seen before (the size of sweet/grease ants but with a much larger abdomen segment) crawled up the vines and (surgically) cut the grapes off their stems so they fell on the ground. They then emptied out the fallen grapes leaving only the skin. I pulled and discarded the grape vines.
Wife planted all kinds of nice flowers...the deer just ate them down to the dirt. Now we just have stuff that deer won't eat and put up with the gophers and rabbits.
I agree with Mumbo, am very tempted to use the Crosman (with the high velocity kit I installed) and put a few pellets in some of these nuisance critters.
The coyotes moved in a few years back and our local herd of feral cats just disappeared. Also a Yorkie from somebodies back yard a few blocks over......
