Delightful story! Jeff does indeed have a great sense of humor!
I'm curious, when you first moved to Minnesota, did you, as a southern girl, have any trouble understanding the local accent? In any case, the local way of speaking had to be at least a little different from what you were used to hearing down south. Every region of the country has its own unique way of speaking.
Your story sort of reminded me of the time when my wife's New England relatives came down to Florida, and while visiting local shops and stores, complained that they "simply couldn't understand what some people were saying" that is, the Florida "cracker" accent.
They were hearinghttps://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=florida+cracker+accent+youtube&docid=607993414486735006&mid=4af74774c1b7f1b7c9c94af74774c1b7f1b7c9c9&view=detail&form=vire
Of course I, being an old Florida boy, understood it perfectly, and couldn't see why they weren't able to, but I suppose I might be perplexed upon hearing, and maybe not comprehending, a Minnesota accent!
Did Jeff ever tease you about
having trouble understanding the local dialect when you first moved there, if that was ever an issue? Maybe it was fun for him if he did!
