Hello, Jerry ----
Thankful, indeed, for your update. I am especially thankful to read the news of the lowered PSA score.
I am also thankful you battled bravely through six rounds of TAXOTERE treatments.
I'm a teacher --- and ironically, my first infusion was in August, during BACK TO SCHOOL week.
I was in that first wave of fellows, some years ago, who jumped aboard the "early chemotherapy plan" when it first became endorsed after clinical trials such as the STAMPEDE trial and the CHAARTED trial.
My students were extremely supportive. I eventually needed a "buzz cut" when I started losing my hair that fall --- and they rallied around me, and I taught school every day --- with treatments in the late afternoon, so I wouldn't miss time with my students.
My treatments started in August --- and wrapped up shortly before Thanksgiving.
Evenings and weekends were important to me --- after busy days at school. It takes a while to rebound. The last treatments are often the toughest.
I remember my energy levels slowly returning. It was not an overnight phenomenon. I worked hard at school all day, but kept life on an even keel on nights and weekends. Time to relax and rejuvenate became much more important than "social events" during that time.
A few weekend naps, here and there, helped! I also set an earlier bedtime.
I stayed as active as I could, but there would be a time, each evening --- and then I would hit a BRICK WALL --- in terms of energy --- and then it was definitely BEDTIME.
I'm glad to hear you are pursuing physical therapy. I went for walks in my neighborhood, each evening, and that helped me feel revitalized. Over time, I walked greater distances --- as my energy levels slowly increased, over time.
It's good --- physically and emotionally --- to set and attain daily goals, while you continue to rebound from chemotherapy. Healthy hydration is important, too!
Continue to post and keep us updated on your progress! Remember --- naps ARE allowed! Stay in good contact with your medical team.
We are here as your SUPPORT TEAM, Jerry --- and I send my encouragement to you today --- and in the days ahead!
With my very best, from one "CHEMOTHERAPY COMRADE" to another ~~~
