I imagine a great side effect of all that climbing must have been the HUGE amount of exercise you got doing it.
Of course we've all read about just how helpful exercise is in fighting the beast, as well as healthful in so many other ways, so if there was some vigorous huffing and puffing involved in all that vertical ascension, all to the good!
it was a great feeling of accomplishment for an old guy! when covid first hit i completely changed my exercise regimen. no more gym for me! i began hiking a hilly park near me 3x a week and so since april 2020 i have averaged 12k step a day with plenty of vert. and i began lifting weights at home which i reduced to two workouts a week totalling about
an hour.
exercise is cheaper than a shrink plus you feel better and:
