Remarkable "recovery"

I have to say that Jeff's recovery has been beyond our expectations. He had the catheter and staples removed on Thursday (after having surgery last Wed). he has not had much leakage, did have to change the pad at 4 AM because he did "leak" during the night. then this morning he actually had a climax (with no erection). I told him that he should take it easy, but I think he had to prove to himself that he was "OK", but he also has a very strong sex drive. I wasn't sure he should be doing this so soon after surgery (10 days), but he said he felt fine, and had intense feelings. he did take a Cialis this morning (even though the doctor told him to take it at night). we know this whole thing (continence and sexual potency) will take more time, but we're happy to see it's progressing nicely.

Even at age 65, my husb. has had such minor leakage and great results with Cialis from post-surgery on, but the doc told us just to "look at it, take a picture, but don't do anything" for 4 weeks. Then, we turned chicken and were afraid he'd hurt himself inside! But, at the fifth week (last night) husb. had almost a full erection and with no Cialis (48 hours prior). So, I bet you, too, will see much the same results, probably even quicker.

These are among the things that keep us going, for sure! (And for those heading into this whole thing.)

I'm a new member but have been "lurking" for a while now. My husband was diagnosed in May with PC at the age of 50. He had RPR surgery on July 13. His PSA was 5.7, Gleason was 3+4=7. Luckily the cancer was contained and all margins were negative. YEA!!!!

He is still having a lot of trouble with incontinence. However that is slowly improving. He is now dry through the night and the leakage is starting to slow down through the day. He had absolutely no control for the first few weeks after the catheater was removed. The doctor started him on 1/4 of a 100mg Viagra every other night after the cath came out to help blood flow to the penis as I understand it.

Surprisingly, we found he also was able to have a pretty good erection 3 weeks post op and subsequently since then. I think its important to post this info for other members of the forum to give them hope and also so they can know that it is possible and that PC doesn't always mean the end of your sex life.

I would also just like to thank everyone for sharing their stories. The information I was able to read from everyone and everything I learned on this board has helped us so much, before the surgery and now even after. Everyone is so supportive and understanding. What a great site!

Hi, Kat. So glad to hear you're progressing so well. Since Cialis is "supposed to" work for up to 36 hours, we were advised to only use it twice a week. We hit it on Wed. and Sat. nights. Also, I think, supposed to be with no alcohol/empty stomach. We can't all be perfect!

Hi Kat & Jeff,   I just read your posting about mixing drinks with Cialis and I must say it truly gave me great concern and then it turned into a huge belly laugh!!!   Now I know the side effects are a concern and so my mind set was really thinking I was going to be reading something really bad….   Imagine what’s going through my mind as I’m reading:   I’m thrilled to hear Jeff is back to sleeping in the normal way “nude” J Relaxing with a nice cool drink J   J Then, I’m reading that he’s taking cialis (and it’s working!!) J    J   J   And then I read ~      he’s passing out……   Now I’m wondering….   As you were dialing 911…and he’s quickly coming out of the passing out phase….telling you he’s fine!!!!   Do you think knowing you were calling 911, being nude, and having used Cialis helped him to regain his faculties… knowing several people would be swarming your home~~!!   Ya Think?   (using a Swimom phrase) LOL   Kat ….I’m truly thankful Jeff is okay!!!   Sounds to me like you have a great relationship and that in it self is a blessing.   Thank you for sharing!!   Ladies ….I’m truly glad things are going well for all of you!!   Keeping you “ALL” close in my thoughts and prayers… each and every~day.   Daveed …. Bluebird, M.Kat. I think I will try all of the above but after reading I think I will pace it out. One day nude, next day ed med and the next day a celebratory drink. Will let you know if my plan works after my turn on the table. Best of luck again to jeff. Keep at it practice makes perfect.
