Congratulations. I felt great when mine came back clear. This is really big! I just attended a benefit on Monday for a friend whose porstate cancer spread to his bones so he has a lot more to deal with. Nothing beats early detection.Good luck on the catscan.

Birdland,

I can't remember what the doctor said the reason was, but he said Curtis didn't need a cat scan.  Does anyone know why that would be?

Yes it is a big relief to know we've made thru one more hurdle!!  Since his doctor is going to be on vacation for the next 2 weeks we still don't have a surgery date.  Two weeks to just relax and try to forget about what's ahead of us.

Hi Ellen

That is great news Ellen; what a relief that is. Now you both can get a good nights sleep. I don't know why Curtis would need cat scan; I did not have one either. Well at least it's one less thing to worry about.

Great news Ellen and Curtis!! one less thing to worry about. It's a shame that you can't schedule the surgery to be after the doctor's vacation.

Jeff did not get any scans, so maybe it's based on each doctor's preference?

From the little bit I know - the CT scan is done in the pelvic area to determine lymph node involvement. However, if there is, it's not definitive proof that it's from prostate cancer. Our urologist ordered it done along with the bone scan, but I have read that sometimes, if the surgeon is pretty sure the cancer is confined, he or she will not order any tests.

The "cocktails" husb. had to drink for it was not a pretty thing, so great if you can avoid it!

We know you're eager to set a date! But big congrats on getting this far! Getting a clean bone scan is HUGE from the relief/worry standpoint.
