 Hi.

Was wondering if i could get some feedback on a slight problem i have.  Being a first timer to your forum hopefully  I can get some answers to a problem that not a lot of us "Blokes' like or feel comfortable to discuss.I am 54 had a radical prostatectomy 12 months ago and unfortunately suffered some complictions during surgery resulting in having a catheter for 5 months and a colostomy bag for 7 months.

I have just recently had my last operation 5 weeks ago( No more foreign objects protruding and an incisional hernia repaired) and definately would like to get back to as normal a life as i can. Bladder control  is not a problem, but my penis has shrunk dramatically, even after taking viagra my erection is as least half the size it was before the radical. And do penis injections help restore penis size

Do i have any thing to look forward to or is this it?

Regards Baz.

Baz,
Welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear that your surgery was so full of complications. It must have been an unbelievably rough year for you. Helpfully the worst is behind you now and life will start to look brighter.
My husband is only a week out of radical prostatectomy, so at this time I can't answer you erection question. There are many experiences here though, and I'm sure you will get some good input on this subject. Hang in there!

Kate,

How is your husband doing after his surgery a week ago?  Did he have much trouble afterwards.  Curtis has his on the 10th and I'm concerned about how he will feel afterwards.

Thanks

Baz,

Sorry to hear about all the complications of your surgery.  That makes my surgery sound easy.  I am 7 weeks post.  I have not personally tried the injections yet, but I have heard from others that is works well.  The only complaints I have heard is that some had to 1/2 the dose as it worked a little too well in keeping an erection too long.  You should definately talk with your urologist about this to at least try.  Do you know if they were able to spare the nerves during your surgery?  Others have tried using an vacuum pump with good success as well.  If you are now feeling better you should try to increase the blood flow to your penis to help prevent any additional atrophy to the tissues.  Again, I am at the begining stages of recovery and plan to use the ijections if I need to.  I do take Cialis now and does increase blood flow and helps with lengthening, but far from an erection.

I hope the other guys respond to your inquiry with first hand experience.  This information is personal but so valuable for us trying to recover from the surgery.  I wish you luck with this and let us know if it works!

Michael
