Nurse told us to remove gauze after we got home and cover with a bandaid. How quickly did yours heal over?

Bob's took quite awhile -- actually at the 4 week mark it still has a kind of scab over it. Remember these things heal from the inside out.

Also, re the "bandaid" . . . we kept a piece of gauze loosely taped top and bottom so as to let it "breath" . . some bandaids keept things too moist.

He had another entry point right around his belly button that took at least 3 weeks to stop "draining" . . . this too we kept loosely covered for a couple of weeks and as it slowly stopped a clean undershirt protected it.

Hope this helps.

Husband (Bob) had laproscopic prostate surgery on Sept 27, 2006 - 2/12 malignant biopsy samples - gleason 3 + 3 = 6.  Follow up PSA results and pathology results due Nov 14, 2006.

Funny you bring it up. I remember the drain tube coming out before I was discharged. I never noticed a hole later, or gave it a second thought after I got home. In fact, I never noticed a scab, any drainage, etc. I'm a week short of my three-month surgery anniversary. I can't even see on my body where the drain tube was inserted. So, I guess it doesn't present a problem for everyone.

Dawgfan, I'm guessing yours will heal in no time flat.

Good luck at the cocktail party this weekend. Saw the Gators get beat by Auburn a couple of weeks ago. Richt will have the Dawgs ready.

Hi dawgfan,

I came home with the drain tube, but after it was removed the hole healed up in a few days; no scabs, and virtually no scares. (Of coarse now with all the other scares it doesn't matter). Hope you're feeling better.
