We're ready for the next phase of sexual function recovery.  We've tried Levitra and Cialis, but not enough tumesence for successful intercourse.  Based on others experience, what worked for you when the pills didn't? What about costs? Does insurance cover all of these options?

(1) Vacuum erection aid

(2) Injections

(3) Suppository

I am leaning toward injections for two reasons, they are easier to manage than the vacuum device and seem to have a higher success rate.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I'm still taking Viagra, but have had better success with the Osbon Vacuum pump. I found it on eBay, brand new, at a reasonable price. Ive read about the injections but would be a little nervous about some of the side effects.

Yes....to all of them! Muse only has about a 30% success rate while injections are around 90% so leave MUSE for last. Just excersising with a pump daily keeps the tissues healthy so yes....even if ya don't use it with the constriction rings. Most insurances do pay at least some of the cost of a pump.

One other cheap (but not easy LOL!) suggestion you can do THIS weekend. Sexual activity may be possible if you get a partial erection with oral meds by trying a constriction ring. Try purchasing a constriction ring and using it in conjunction with meds (and a little um...stimulation) ;>) It may actually work without needing to get more drastic just yet. Can't hurt, might help.

I can certainly understand your frustration. It has been over five months for you. It ha sonly been a month for me and I am already frustrated but I am by nature impatient. I am on a Viagra based penile rehabilitation program prescribe by my urologist that did my surgery. I am only into the second week of the program but so far nothing is happening. My wife and I are having fun trying. She is feeling guilty about climaxing and I am not getting anything out of it. If I was getting anything at all I would try Swimom's suggestion. I have a six week appointment with my urologist on the 17th. When we discussed this issue prior to surgery he told me that most of the men that could take it used the injection as it worked 100% of the time. I feel that Swimom is right that using the vacuum device to keep fill the penis with blood and basically exercise should be done. I will also asked on the 17th to get a prescription for one of these. At this point the "use it or lose it" concern is driving me toward a more aggressive approach.

Thanks for your good suggestions....I appreciate the responses. I will talk with my urologist at our next visit to explore other options.  Things are progressing slowly.  We expected this, but are ready to take it a step further than the pills.
