Hi,

Its my first time on this site and I had 81 seeds implanted on Nov 20, 2006.

My PSA was 5.3 and I was a 6 on the Gleason Scale 3+3. I am 57 years old and I am having terrible burning and literally holding on to the walls and difficulty starting urination especially in the evening and at night.. I am up 6-7 times per night.  Has anyone else experienced this?? Thank You.

Hi Mike,

My husband didn't have this procedure, but I looked it up on emedicine.com and the symptoms you are describing are listed as side effects. I know there are others on this site who've had this particular procedure, so hopefully they will be able to give yo ideas some input.

Hi Mike!

We're so glad yeah you found this site!  Hopefully some of your symptoms will subside.  A suggestion for you . . . go to www.yananow.net which is also a PC site and there are tons of stories there, many of which deal with seed implantation like you had.  You may find the answers you are looking for there.

Please keep us posted as to your progress . . . we care!!  You will also add valuable input for this method of treatment for the many other viewers out there who are not necessarily posting!

Take care and our prayers go with you!  {{HUGS TO YOU}}

Mike:

Sorry to hear you are suffering some of the side effects of Brachytherapy but there is help for you.  Did your doctor give you a script for Floxmax?  My husband used it every day to take away that burning from his seed implant.  There is a new formulation out there that is even better than the last.  If you don't have it, call your doctor and ask if it is for you - my husband took it for six months, his entire treatment time and is still on it to quell the occasional sensation.

I hope things settle down for you - we had good results with Brachy and hope the same for you - my husband was a 91 seed implant and the man in the bed beside him was a 102-seed implant and both are doing very well.

Best of luck to you.  If you have any other Brachy questions, I'd be happy to answer what I can for you.

Thank you all for your responses.. The Dr has me on double flomax and I started taking 2 -7.5mg of Meloxicam (MOBIC) which I have been hesitant to do because of side effects. This is supposed to reduce inflammation of the prostate which is supposed to help. We shall see.
