Lee, Buddy

I'm here! Just keeping an even keel. Still leaking but that's starting to diminish a bit. Hopeful that it keeps getting better. Started injections with Trimix and I have been responding but we're trying to zero in a the right dosage. it's a strange experience because the injections produce results but it's like I'm stuck with this erection for an hour but not necessarily the mood to go along with it. Anyway, the MD said it was about keeping the erectile tissues healthy so intercourse/orgasm are not so important at this point. Regardless it felt good having the woody even if it does feel more therapuetic than erotic. Anyway I'm going to work and doing a lot of drawing but not a lot of socializing or dating yet. Maybe mildly depressed but I'm seeing my shrink in January. Everything is just very unfamiliar and very weird. I just don't feel completely back into things yet?????

Hope all is well with you guys

Hey Birdland, my surgery day buddy.  Glad to here you are still with us. hang in there they say it will get better with time. So I guess we will wait and see. I got a vacurect pump and it really does pull blood in the old boy pumps up like abig old plump sausage. I know waht you mean about it being more like therapy and medical than erotic. Hope it helps with my recovery and hope the shots help to heal you up. I am not leaking at all but getting a woody is my main challenge my first PSA report was 0.01. Well anyway I think about you and Shepla from time to time since we had our surgeries the same day. If I had been told a year ago I be talking penis pumps, viagra, shots in the dick, with no embarrasment I would have said "get outa here"! Well here I am learning and sharing with others in the same boat. Real good to hear from you. Merry Christmas.

Not Dripping! That ,must be great. Do you think kegels had ,much to do with that or just time? I'm asking because I rarely remember to do them. Also, I',m guessing that even if erections are possible, the real deal is probably when the nerve are healed and back in working order.

Holiday cheers to you !

Birdland

Glad to see you posted. I am 7 weeks post op today and still leaking. Mostly though if I strain, (playing golf, bowling) or cough and sneezing. But everyday is better than the last. I am on a regimen of levitra every other day. The dose is 20 mg. I was supposed to cut in half and take 10mg everyday. But my surgeon said full dose every other day is OK. Actually had a usable erection last Friday. Unfortunatly my dear wife was sound asleep so I had to "take matters into my own hands". I have said this before that it is hard to get used to not ejaculating any semen anymore. But the orgasms seem more intense. I think Tamu said it right its almost like a female orgasm, builds up and lasts longer. Good luck, God bless and a Merry Christmas and new year to you and yours.

Birdland, it's so good to hear from you. I'm glad you're recovering fairly well and haven't had any complications. I can understand why you're slightly depressed and am glad to hear you will be seeing a therapist. it's not surprising after having such a change in life. so many emotions go through your head, don't they? take care....kat

Hi daveed,

Be patient, as some of us know it just took a little longer to get dry. My urologist warned that it may take up to 3 months. As for me I was 97% dry (pad-free) at the 10th week. Still the occational sneeze, cough, or laugh was a hazzard, but even that has past after 9 months.

You had mentioned Kegels, and I do believe that Kegels plus the daily walking helped me regain contiuance.

Good luck to you, and have a wonderful Holiday, and Happy New Year.

Yeah!!! Birdland

I’m so glad to hear from you!!  Remember ~ time is a healer.  And you’ve had a few extra things to deal with.  I hope the new apartment has helped you in the depression department.  And I’m thrilled to see you have a therapist!  Remember…. A lot of us have spouses/partners to bounce off of and this is where a therapist comes in.  And this is a good thing.  It’s when you don’t realize you need extra outside help… is when you can get yourself in trouble.  So ~ if you need to talk ~ before your appointment….. you know there’s a lot of shoulders here….so use ours… okay!!!

Holidays seem to be the time that people tend to have the darkest clouds come to them.  Don’t let this happen.  Take this rainbow and know that each time a dark cloud even thinks about covering your sunshine…..  you have your very own rainbow to swish them away.

This is “YOUR” rainbow

*/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

//////////////////////*//////////////////////////////////////////

///////////////////////////////////////////////*////////////////

//////////*/////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Rainbows bring smiles, smiles bring positive energy into our being!!!

Take time out of each day and “smile”….. It really does help to heal the body.  And open your curtains…. Cuz the sun really is out there.  Even in Colorado as we talk ~ they are having a blizzard but that beautiful sun is still shining.

Remember ~ we are all under the same stars, moon, & sun.  And I’m sending parts of our sunshine from North Carolina to you!

We are here for you my friend…..  Don’t stay away so long!  Okay!!!  Remember we care!!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now to change the subject a little as I ramble on……
You asked about kegels??……
I think you know the answer to this!!!  But ~ if you don’t remember to do them… the answer really doesn’t matter.
~~~~

I have always remembered what Dr. Walsh wrote in his book....  partial quote below.....

Urinary continence:  Before surgery, many men focus on impotence as the major complication of radical Prostatectomy.  They’re wrong.  Recovery of urinary control is far more important and __if it happens slowly, or doesn’t happen at all__casts a far greater shadow on your life.  If something’s wrong with your ability to urinate, you’ll be reminded of it several times a day__or worse, several times an hour__not just a few times a week or month.  And frankly, having to change your adult diaper because you just involuntarily urinated in it can dampen__literally__any romantic thoughts that you do have.

~~~~
Now this is just my opinion….. Being single adds the extra pressure to have urinary continence come in at #2 rather than #3.  But again …. This is just my opinion …. Chirp chirp chirp….
Birdland you may be one of the ones who don’t need to do kegels and will be totally continent at some point without it … good luck…. But ~  I personally would be doing what ever is possible to help myself out and that little sphincter muscle who’s got a tough job ahead of himself.  This little muscle has to last a long time….
You  might want to re-think your “assignment for the day, and tomorrow, and the next day”.
Practice kegels every~day.  There’s lots of postings with really good info about how to do them.  You do them while you’re taking a leak…. So can’t be too hard to remember!
So on this note I’ll sign off.  I know … you know…..I care and that’s why I’ve just lectured….  Cuz I love ya man!!!!
Take care ~
In Friendship ~ Lee & Buddy
Birdland,
Hey guy hang in there, your doing fine. I'm glad you are going the theropist rt. I wish I had done that back after my surgery. Have you thought about joining a PC or C support group? I joinded an US TOO group and it has helped me greatly being able to talk face to face with guys who know exactly how I feel and the problems we all seem to face. Good luck w/ Your recovery and have a great holiday season!
Birland,,, My same day Surgery  and same hospital "Sloan Kettering"   BUDDY.Very Glad to hear from you. Hi 56 Pontiac!  I am still leaking ,walking lifting almost anything. I am doing Kegels  probably should do more but you don,t want to overdo. 100 mgs of Viagra helps me, but I should probably exercise it more than 1 or 2 times a week. Like Daveed said no semen but it seems more intense, more like a womens Orgasm. Now I scream a little!  Remember Birdland its all part of Growing up. I will do that some day!     Shepla
