You can always come back here!!!! Once things settle down.

~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~

Example:

Name and State you live in

Date and Treatment (be specific)  Age at time of diagnosis/treatment

PSA,  Gleason,  Tumor Stage,  Margins

Any and all information that gives a clear picture of “Your Journey”

Date 1st PSA

Date 2nd PSA

Sample:

mama bluebird - Lee & Buddy… from North Carolina

RRP April 3, 2006   53 on surgery day

PSA 4.6   Gleason 3+3=6   T2a   Confined to Prostate

1st PSA ~ June 29, 2006 PSA Less than 0.1 Non-detectable  J

2nd PSA ~ February 6, 2007 PSA Less than 0.1 Non-detectable J J

Special Note:

There have been instances where I’ve gone in to make a change and it throws everything off.

I found the best thing to do is  Clear it completely (leave it blank) and submit…

Then start over from scratch!!! with a fresh empty screen to place my info.

Again (Copy & Paste) works best for me!!

(6)      FONTS  (Easy reading, color, & emphasis using different fonts)

Use Lower & Upper case  ~ much easier to read

CAPS AND BOLD CONSISTENTLY

THROUGHOUT A MESSAGE IS

VERY HARD TO READ

….>>>>>    Consider using Caps & Bold sparingly

If copying & pasting into message box:

Regular Postings:   Black   10   Verdena (some fonts appear much larger)

There are times when you really want to emphasize with a little

Sparkle (Papyrus font 11)

and a little  (Kristen ITC font 11)

Color  (Monotype Corsiva font 14)

** Helpful Reminders: (Comic Sans MS font 10)

Be aware that not all computers have the fancy fonts...

and will appear differently on other member's computers.

I’m just finding this out by looking at Buddy’s computer ~ things appear differently.

(7)      All Threads "Started by":  All Members… 1-99 then A-Z  on Pages 1- 55...

Click on the drop down box next to NEW TOPIC (left side) and look for

Started by   threads will appear in ABC order starting with symbols and numbers first. You will have to click on the page # (right side) and find the member you're looking for.

(8)      Deleting a Post When you’ve accidentally duplicated a post

Please ** Don’t delete…. if you are thinking you’ve said too much!!!

Because the more you say is better!!!

Writing is good therapy and you’re safe here with your thoughts and feelings…

so please ~ don’t delete if this is what’s going through your mind!!!

Go to that posting

Click on the X icon = delete post

The next page will show the following

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

THIS CANNOT BE UNDONE!

DELETE POST      CANCEL

So be very careful when you choose the button to DELETE it cannot be retrieved.

It will take a moment to process

It will take you back to the Thread you are currently on.

(9)      Editing a Post  ~ and/or  ~ Editing the Topic/Subject Title on your Thread

Editing a post to add something you forgot ~or~ to correct something in the message box and/or

change the Topic/Subject Title on your Thread

Click on the pencil icon = edit your post (on the post you wish to make changes to)

Click on  Submit button

The date you revised your posting will appear in italic at the bottom of your post once you submit.

Post edited to activate direct links

Post Edited (bluebird) : 8/2/2007 9:09:00 PM (GMT-6)

Nice to have a little note as to what was edited… J  example:           Post edited to activate direct links (sample above)

Reminder... when you edit a post... it does not bring it back to the top of the forum to let us know you've posted

something new.  You'll need to send a new post to say you've updated...

Good example is Biker90's RRP Journey 11/7/2006 - Current    He's keeping all updated info on the 1st post on

this thread and then he sends a little note saying he's updated!!!  This way you see the whole “journey” in 1

area!!  Great for all of us and for Newbies coming on board!

(10)    Quote Post icon (not necessary if in the same thread)

…unless you want to highlight a specific “line / comment”…

(11)    Search for a Specific…Member’s Thread and/or reply postings

Using Biker90 as an example (spelling must be exact! except when the name has a space in it... other names will appear with the one you're looking for)

Click on SEARCH next to Chat on the Log-on / Log-off (BLUE LINE ABOVE

(Not the Google Search “Search Site” )

Fill in the blanks…. Carefully…..

Search the Forum

Enter the words or phrases to search….  Biker90

Search for:  Posts or (Posted By) (drop down)

Search Options

Search keywords using:  All or Any (click on radio button next to All or Any)

Maximum Number of Possible Matches Returned:  200 (drop down)

Select the forum to search:  Prostate Cancer (drop down)

Searched Date Range: In The last Month (drop down)

Click on  Submit button

It will show all the postings Biker90 has listed

Click on the blue title on the left...and it will take you directly to the post

(12)    Refresh Direct Links (within the forum)

When you click on a direct link (that’s being placed on some postings so you can have a direct link to

a thread within HealingWell )…. A new window will open on your computer…

When you get to the new Thread…click on the REFRESH icon/button on your computer.

It will clean up any “strange” lettering as seen in the sample below…

(it doesn’t always show the jibberish…)  but if it does just REFRESH

Sample:

A Reply Post To : JustJulie's Brachytherapy Journey

Dear Julie & Family, WOW!!! ( [3]W onderful, [b][3]O pen, & Heart[b][3]W arming) Thank you ~ for sharing your

personal journey with all of us!!!

I’m sending a very “SPECIAL HUG” to your boys!!!!

Direct Links to the Web… will not have to be refreshed!!!

Whey you add a link…  make sure your cursor is at the end of the web address|

…now hit enter and it should set the link..

Your moderator may come on and activate the link to make it easier for others.

You may see the following…

Post edited to activate link….

Post Edited (bluebird) : 8/2/2007 9:09:00 PM (GMT-6)

(13)    Touching Base ~ after a certain period of time with all of us!!!!

Please ~ let us know how you’re doing from time to time!

There are a lot of postings coming in and your Thread may get down to page 2 or

6 or 14 quickly.

Go find your Thread and drop us a note!!!!  Please!!!!!

It will automatically come back to the top and will allow us to stay closer with you!

Help Us ~ To Help You….. by staying in touch!!!  We Care!

And by going to your personal Thread… it will allow us to refresh our memories

as to the path you’ve traveled.

See #11 to help you find your threads…

(14)    Excess "blank area" at the bottom of your postings?

3,4,5 inches of extra white SPACING at the bottom of your POST….

If you see a large amount of spacing at the end of you posting… your cursor was not at the end of the

sentence when you submitted your post.

Edit your post using the instructions within this thread.  See #9

(This will help preserve precious spacing on our forum server)

When your post opens ~ place the cursor at the end of the last sentence

Click on the DELETE button…  the lines will shift up and will clear away any excess area.

Click on  Submit button

If your moderator edits for this ~ you will see the following…

Post not edited ~ bottom had white blank area and this was cleared.  -or-

Post not edited ~ extra white spacing at the bottom has been deleted.

(15)    Chat Room!     Set your Forum Calendar to Pacific Standard Time to view correct dates!

Click here…>   !!!  Chat Room: Let's Get Together.... Monthly...Schedule

Chat Room is like a revolving door.  You can go in at any time night or day.

Use Chat Room….. It is a wonderful tool for all of us!!!!!

Enjoy this time ~ spent with friends.

Happiness…. Is staying in touch!!!

(16)    Check for open Topics     (taken from Forum Rule #1)

Before posting a new topic, please check to see if there is already a topic open on the subject.

It may provide you with more reply postings to view… (Reply post with your own specific question.

This will pop it back to page 1… and will help in keep this “important topic discussion together”…

How do you go about looking? (the search mode doesn’t work very well)

You can try this ~ it’s very time consuming but you will find some great threads & replies here!

So ~ as time permits check this out!!!

(Don’t hesitate to start a new descriptive title thread!!! Anytime!!   We are here for you!)  : )

So much effort you put into this, God bless your heart.

I've already used a few tips that helped me and need to do some more reading.

Thanks so so much!

J Susan,

Thank you for your kind words.  They truly touched our hearts!!  Thank you for letting me know that the Helping Hints Thread has helped you!!!

I know when we came to the forum for the 1st time it was a bit overwhelming… and it took awhile for me to figure out how was the best way to stay on top of all the postings.

Since then ~ it has increased tremendously ~ with new members joining every day!!!  This is awesome…yeah

It is important to “all of us” that we touch base with each new person.  There’s nothing like the feeling one gets when they know they are cared about!!!

We encourage each new person who joins to start their own Thread.  It is a gift they can give to all of us ~ so we can share our warmth and understanding in a special ways.  The main thing is they continue to post where they feel comfortable but having their own thread for welcome messages is important too!

We look at “Forum Members” as “special” spokes  ~  on a huge wheel.

Each spoke has a special purpose.

You can pick, as may spokes that you want to make up your own wheel.

We each have a special “giving” to this forum.

Each is unique to the individual.

Each is “important”.

Knowledge is Power …. and Power takes away the fear

Power is gained by having Knowledge.

Options that are placed before us gives us “extra” knowledge.

The more options out there ….makes it a lot easier to find your own direction

without having to re-invent the whole wheel.

Thanks for letting me chirp~chirp~chirp~….

Mama bluebirds seem to have the “patent” on this… Thanks for not minding.  Everything that flows from my fingertips to the keyboard truly comes from my heart!

J  Hey Mat,

Sorry I missed your posting… it looks like we overlapped and mine came in last… so didn’t think to look back.

Thank you for letting me know that this page is helping!!!  :-)

With so much coming at new members…. I want to make things as easy for them as possible.

The main thing is that they keep posting…

Thanks again,

Lee & Buddy Bluebirds,

This forum is my first "chatroom" experience and without your "helpful links," I would have likely wandered off!

Have you read Kurt Vonnegut's Sirens of Titan?
The ending goes something like this:
"My son has gone to Titan to live with the bluebirds. I'd go too if they would have me..."

Have you heard the story about the "cedar choppers of Lebanon?" :)

Thanks for all that you do.
Keeping all of you in good thoughts.

Hey ~ Dutch,   We loved your little post above!!!  And really appreciated your kind remarks..  yeah

I wanted to let you know that the font showed up fine at the library (very readable)…. It came through in Jester Font at home..... Like you said… a little hard to read a compete post in that font…. But Great for “emphasis” on a specific word!!!  Each computer brings in different fonts according to their fonts that are available.  The library did not have  Jester font... and came through as Verdana font!!

I realized this when I did a posting from home in JOKERMAN font and it didn't show up the same at the library and that's when I realized....hhhmmmmm   I better cut back on the "fancy" fonts...

Learning something everyday!!!!   tongue

B&B’s World,

Thank you for your thoughtfulness in your posting above…  It is truly heartfelt…   :-)

are received as we wished them to be…..

Dearest Lee (Our dear Mama Bluebird!)

Someone bumped this thread to the top and I saw it for the first time.  This thread is nothing short of amazing!  It goes a long way to make sure that some of the most important threads on a multiplicity of vital PCa subjects, which are so helpful to members and non-members, will be readily accessible and not be lost at the bottom of the list eventually.  Your general instructions are superb.  Working with our new moderator (Kitt), we should find some way to incorporate this information into a permanent index and instructional guide which can be periodically updated (and to which no postings can be made).  It should appear permanently at the top of page one.

I personally thank you for your devotion and time consuming contributions to this forum.  You deserve high praise.  This forum would not be the great forum it is today without you! God Bless you and Buddy.

Dave

P.S. Chirp! Chirp Sweet Lady! You have been missed while on vacation! Hope it was delightful!

68, Biopsy 9/27/06, Stage T1c, PSA 7.1, Gleason 6 [less than 5% in two areas], Gleason 7 (3+4) [less than 20% in third area], negative DRE, bone scan and MRI. Had 39 Proton radiation treatments 2/22/07-4/18/07.
First PSA test to be taken 7/07.

Hi there all,

I agree with you that Bluebird's post should remain at the top and I am checking to see how to keep it there. I will get it done as soon as I can.  I am with you on this one.............. yeah

The information she has provided is amazing.........................thank you for the suggestion.  You guys are amazing.

The information I am receiving re sticky posts is only Admin has that access.

If you want to keep Buddy and Lee's post at the top, it will need to be bumped unless I learn of a different way.

Thanks

Respectfully

Kitt

Good Morning All,

The only way at this point to keep bluebird's info at the top is to bump it there.  I will try to remember to do it each day and if you need it sooner please bump it.

I have been given info that the old bump posts can be deleted, so if you posted just "bump" I will delete when a new bump is posted.  If you wrote more I will of course not mess with it.

Please let me know if this works for all?

I have been on forums where I could pin the topic which is similiar to sticky but as that is not an option, we can all be bumpers................

Bluebird you are a super person and as I have said before, I am your support person.................give me a hand to hold or a heart to help mend.

Gentle Hugs

Respectfully

Kitt

Dear Bluebird,

As you know I have nothing but praise for what you have done in this thread.  I would like to suggest that something along these lines also be included so that we all understand the rules of this forum and the protocol to be followed to resolve administrative matters should they arise.

What Are the Responsibilities of a Forum Moderator?  Refer to:  http://www.healingwell.com/community/moderators.aspx

1. Foster a sense of community , caring and responsiveness in your assigned forum. This can be done easily by getting involved in discussions, responding to posts (especially those no one else reponds to), and offering your support. NOTE: You do not have to reply to every post (this would be downright exhausting for some forums!).

2. Monitor your forum for abusive posts, unauthorized spam or advertisements, copyright infringements, any sort of harrassment, and any other violations of the forum rules and edit or delete posts that violate these rules (login first, then click on the "Edit" or "Delete" icon found at the top right hand corner of each message post). Use Admin alerts to send reports to the forum administrator for serious and "repeat" offenders, or questionable posts you aren't sure about.

3. Participate in the private Forum Moderator's forum. Only current moderator's have access to this forum, visible at the bottom of the main forum listing. This is the place to post questions, concerns, problems, ask for help, get feedback and input from your fellow moderators. It is a good idea to visit this forum regularly to keep updated with changes in the forums.

4. Read the Moderator's FAQs. This will save yourself and the administrator some time regarding some of the more frequently asked questions that arise for moderators. This is a private, read-only forum for moderators only.

Optional: Some moderators have set up regular chats for their forums, this is NOT required for moderators. If you choose to host chats, please post chat times in the calendar and in your assigned forum. There are no moderator tools available in the chat rooms, but you can use the Admin alert link at the bottom of the chat window to send notices to the forum administrator.

On the above referenced website, there is a list of all of the HealingWell moderators, includ Kitt. Her e-mail address is shown there and I encourage all members to e-mail her and discuss with her privately any administrative concerns they may have and not on this forum which is open to the public.

If all else fails, there is also the option to contact the HealingWell Administrator: admin@healingwell.com

Peter Waite is the Founder/Editor of HealingWell and we have much to be thankful for considering his efforts in creating and keeping this website healthy and vital. However, it is the responsibility of the members to do their part--the information we get here is invaluable for PCa patients and it doesn't cost us a dime!

Dear Dave and all of you,

I am here for whatever you need.  I am trying  to  support and get to know each of you.   My job is  to keep the site safe as well as answer questions?

So thank you Dave, I have the rules printed and keep them next to my computer.

If someone sees something I miss that I should attend to please email me.  I am available from early morning til bedtime most days but do take care of me too.

I think each of you is unique and your sharing is amazing.

Keep it up.

Hi ~ Dave,

Yes ~ We’ve put a lot of “hugs” into this thread….   tongue   We started the “Helpful Hint’s” thread because we wanted to add a human touch!! a little personality to the ones that we thought would help our “Newbies” & “Lurkers” feel easier about navigating this forum.  One new member stated that he would have left if he hadn’t found this thread!!!  What a compliment and What a gift we just received…. The BIGGEST HUG….. ever!!!!!!

The Forum has it’s own Forum Links to the right of each thread… (listed below)

 Forum Links

We will continue to update and continue to add to the Direct Links on this thread.  yeah

We do need “Members” to help ~ in letting us know if something should be here that isn't...

A "new" goal once we get High Speed Internet at home is to make sure the most “viewed” threads are added to this thread!!

This thread will be updated  near the end of the month !!!!

Once updated… if I have missed someone’s “Personal Journey”… ….. it truly is not intentional….

Just let me know!!!!  We will be happy to add it…..

  cool   TTT (To The Top)

tongue   Bump (Bump to the top for Newbies)

A special thank you to “YOU” for bumping threads when you feel it will help someone!!!   yeah

Part of my new responsibilities effective 6-12-2007 will be to help reserve space!!!

I will delete all postings that move a thread to the top.

If there is other information with the TTT or bump…. I will leave the posting as it is!!!

Thanks to all of you… for helping to keep threads readily available for Newbies and others who have concerns…. and a search would put extra stress on them…. At a time where extra stress is not needed!!!!

In friendship ~ Lee & Buddy
