Hi everyone

i noted that some adverturesome members (e.g., Bluebird, Biker 90) tried the chatroom for the first time last night. i always wondered why none of the members sought to us the chat room which could be an excellent tool for this forum. the only downside is that valuable information learned during a chat session would not be memorialized in the message boards unless some wrote up a log. in any event, my problem is that using all three of my internet browers (i.e., internet explorer, netscape and foxfire), i cannot get into the chat room. Using internet explorer, i get the message below which seems to indicate the problem is being caused by the server at Healing Well. If anyone is a computer guru or has any feedback as to how you successfully get into the chat room, please advise.

I have tried everything, including HealingWell's suggestions. Maybe I should toss my computer out the window!

Dave

Hey Dave,

I just got in the chat room using Firefox while IE was still running. Maybe it is your firewall or your ISP's firewall.

Hey Dave,
Any luck yet? When Buddy gets in I'll let him read your posting and see if he knows anything that might help...

Hi ~ Dave.....

Give this a try....  We have WinXP Home Edition with service pack 2 installed.

We have ours set at Medium setting… with the slider on the  3rd line from the bottom with a total of 6 lines showing.  We have ours set at block pop-ups at the bottom.

Also ~ check your cookie setting because your setting may be blocking a necessary cookie to access the chat room.  J

HTTP 500/internal server error might be an undesired/unexpected path while contacting any website.
You cant do much about it, even if your security settings is minimal as much of it is due to an improper remote server.

cookies can be enabled, in your web browser settings.

If you are using Microsoft default one, then while browsing:
1. Press "Alt" key and "T" key at same time
2. Goto "Internet Options" and then select "Privacy" tab
3. Drag the button here one level below (to Low or Accept All cookies"
4. Press OK

If this doesn’t work ~ I’m sure a moderator will come on and/or send your request to the admin office.

Take care!!!  Hope to see you soon in the chat room.....Lee & Buddy

Hi Bluebird (aka Johnny on the Spot!)

i have tried everything under the sun with all three browsers to no available.  i have gone to internet options and tried everything including the lowest security settings and listing healingwell.com as a trusted site for ready access.  i even cut off the firewall for a few mintues to no avail.

my system is Windows XP.  usually, if i can't do something with one browser, i find that one of the three will do the trick.  i couldn't even get into the chat room through aol which i don't use that often.  from the error message i received, i interpret it as a server problem at healing well.  maybe they have different servers for different parts of the U.S.--that is the only reason i can think that some members can get in the chat room and others can't.

how do i contact someone at healing well to hopefully have them see if they can rectify this situation?  i can't find any direct link to healing well.  i think the chat room would be great assuming that we don't get so enamoured with it that we don't post to the message boards.  all the best.

Dave

Dear Susan

Thanks for giving me this information. I am totally frustrated over my inability to get into the chat room.  It would be a wonderful forum for you and I to have a chat from time to time so that I know how you and your husband are doing on a more personal level than we can achieve in the message boards.  Hopefully I will find out the problem and eventually get in.

NOW HEAR THIS!  ALL POINTS BULLETIN!  I FINALLY GOT IN THE CHAT ROOM AFTER RE-RIGGING MY INTERNET OPTIONS. IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN AN ACTIVE-X CONTROL THAT WAS DISABLED WHEN I RECENTLY UPGRADED TO INTERNET EXLPORER 7.  THANKS FOR MOTIVATING ME TO STRAIGHTEN THIS OUT.

Dave

p.s. sorry for the shouting above, but i am elated at getting into the chat room.  izzy and biker 90 were there for a little light hearted chat.  we can save the heavy duty stuff for the message boards!

Re: Chat room ~  We plan on using the chat room periodically but will mainly stay on the forum.  In reference to someone keeping a log of the chat room chatter…. I personally don’t want mine kept.  It is a more personal one-on-one and a group discussion at other times and I don’t want mine re-printed…
