Hi Lee

I have read your great thread "Helpful Hints to New Members". I was trying to edit my Proton Radiation Thread by inserting bold captions, etc. I made all edit changes in Word and tried to paste them to my thread and nothing happens. While I am not going to do my thread in color, I tried to post some color and it doesn't work either. I noted awhile ago that you could use color on postings without cutting and pasting from word. This option seems to have disappeared. This is very frustrating as I think it is important to make all of the threads, especially long ones like mine with captions before each section, as easy to read and search through as possible. Any thoughts you have to rectify this situation would be greatly appreciated! All the best to my favorite "chirp lady"!

J Happy to help you!!!     We will stay on this thread and talk back and forth okay!!! Let me get my thoughts together and I will give you some directions.   It has some quirks if you don’t start the posting from scratch but we can work through it!!!   There several different options…    I’ve learned this when updating Helpful Hints… and it’s a real pain on dialup!!!   That’s why I do most of my updates at the library where they have “high-speed”….   Once we figure this out ~ I’ll go in and add this to Helpful Hints…..     I agree…. The Complete Journey on the 1 st Posting is “FANTASTIC”….. Just look at yours and Jetguy’s and John’s….and hopefully we will see more of this happening.   Other threads are very important but Keeping the Original Thread updated is so very important to see the whole picture.   It is easier to start new threads but we lose the continuity of that person’s individual journey.     So ~ let me go have a look and I will get back to you… keep a watch out for me.   I’ll be working on it right now.   1st: Remember when you changed your settings to get into the Chat Room? Is this when you noticed that you lost the options to add color when posting?????   NOTE: The Standard Editor is the default editor for browsers that do not support the WYSIWYG editor (Firefox, Safari, Netscape, etc.).       2nd ...thing I need to know is which is showing when you click on the   Reply Post??? Post Icon: Message: Standard Form Emoticons Box Options: Submit/Cancel   Or do you See…   Post Icon Message: MCode is Disabled. Emoticons Box Options: Submit/Cancel

hi lee

you sure are "johnny on the spot" with you quick reply which is greatly appreciated! i recall that one day out of the blue i started to see an ability to use different color type which i did a couple of time. then the capability seemed to disappear. you must go crazy at home using dial up!

dave

here are my comments in CAPS on your message above:

1st:

Remember when you changed your settings to get into the Chat Room?

Is this when you noticed that you lost the options to add color when posting????? I DON'T RECALL CHANGING ANY SETTING TO GET INTO THE CHAT ROOM. IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM IN USING THE WRONG USER NAME (I.E., USING MY TRUE USER NAME INSTEAD OF PCDAVE). WHEN I USED MY TRUE USER NAME, I GOT INTO THE CHAT ROOM RIGHT AWAY.

NOTE:

The Standard Editor is the default editor for browsers that do not support the WYSIWYG editor (Firefox, Safari, Netscape, etc.).

I USE FIREFOX BECAUSE I HAVE TOO MANY PROBLEMS WITH INTERNET EXPLORER SINCE I UPGRADED TO THEIR LASTEST 7.0 EDITION.

2nd...thing I need to know is which is showing when you click on the Reply Post???

Dave & Lee - just to note, I have the same thing: mcode is disabled
It messed up the stats for me a couple of times (it used to be in blue ) so they showed in HTML...I simply deleted any symbols and saved the revised stats and it was okay (you can see this on the Good News post I did on Don's PSA results)

Hey…Dave,      Info from Forum Information: The Standard Editor is the default editor for browsers that do not support the WYSIWYG editor (Firefox, Safari, Netscape, etc.).     Buddy's input.....   On many occasions web pages and websites are designed to specifically display properly only with Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher.     Firefox is supported to display the website but not all of the functions embedded within the programming code used to create all the extra features.   This is why some websites will not display at all or without certain functions when using a non Microsoft Browser.   Firefox is considered to be the best overall browser….. but keep in mind it is going up against IE which is built-in with the operating system… ie: Windows XP just as an example.   I am curious if you could use your IE 7.0 to open up the forum to see if the features are displayed and functional.   After not hearing back before I signed off….   I touched base with a moderator and this has to be bumped up to the Admin…   if we don’t get it resolved on our own…   Pretty certain it has something to do with Firefox.   Let me know after you do the above….. Hopefully this will work!!!!     J Lee & Buddy “The Computer Wiz”       :) Thanks Susan..... for your input...

Hi Lee!

Problem resolved thanks to you! Bluebird did it again!  You hit upon the answer (i.e., when I use IE instead of Firefox the color and font options appear again). I did a test and can edit my proton thread by cutting and pasting from Word.

You have a much better memory than I do.  You quoted from one of my past messages when I had problems getting into the chat room, which indicated that I changed some of my internet options to resolove that problem.  I had forgotten that!  You would make a great lawyer or detective--you sure were able to get the evidence to demonstate that my memory ain't as good as it should be!

Many thanks for getting me on the right track.  I hate to use IE, but when I want to do special effects on HW, I guess I will have to use IE.  Of course, my technicolor special effects could never surpass yours! Cheers and chirp chirp!

Dave

P.S. This message was done in blue for our favorite "bluebird"!

J Yippee……   Glad it worked!!!   My Buddy is the computer “wiz”…. And we definitely make a “great” team…     What a special message in bluebird "blue".... very thoughtful.  What a nice way to be thought of.  We had 4 beautiful Eastern Bluebirds on the wires down by the waterwheel the other day.  Hoping they will come back to nest.  We put 2 boxes up several years ago in the neighbor's field.... and have had several broods over the years...    :) Going now to check your Thread... and I'll share some other stuff later!!!  If you're having this problem... Hopefully this posting will help you!   " mCode is Disabled " Quote from Lawink: "mCode is Disabled"   For whatever reason, when I go to type under new posting or post a reply my "mCode is Disabled" I have no choice of font colors anymore and if I try to cut and paste something it comes out just plain. The emoticons come up in word form although I see they do then appear correctly in the actual posting. I've tried under control panel and I cannot find where to enable the mCode . . . . . .HELP!!   Quote from Bluebird: Sending the link that we hope will help you.    Don’t forget to REFRESH once you get there!! Bluebird -- Font Options - Help!   Started by pcdave   J   (you are currently on it… see above for other info) Scroll down to the “blue” posting by pcdave!!! It all has to do with using IE Partial quote from Dave:   I hate to use IE, but when I want to do special effects on HW, I guess I will have to use IE.  Problem resolved...     You hit upon the answer (i.e., when I use IE instead of Firefox the color and font options appear again)   Quote from Lawink: I use IE - when I open a new post it tells me the mCode is disabled. I truly cannot enable it. I remember a long time ago, clicking on it when it was enabled and this popped up . . . now I can't go anywhere to enable it again. The link was informative, but doesn't solve this particular issue.   Quote from Bluebird: A few questions: Do you leave your computer on at all times?   If yes, shut down your system completely and re-start it!  When did you 1st notice this?    How long has it been like this? I just clicked on Standard Form and the mCode is Disabled format came up.  But as soon as I canceled and left this thread.... it reverted back to Standard Form.  hmmmmm I'm sending a note to Lil & Sherry (Moderators) asking them to check this thread and see if they can direct us further!!!   Quote from Lawink: Although the computer is always on, it has been shut down since the problem started. Will be interested in what Sherry or Lil have to say.   Quote from djdaz_1985 (moderator for Epilepsy Forum) I don’t have a permanent answer to the question but I have a short-term solution. (It could be long term depending on how patient you are! In the address bar you probably see this: https://www.healingwell.com/community/post.aspx?f=40&m=792339&r=r&fp=s Add "r=r&" in between the ampersand (&) and the m (In bold red). The delete everything after the 6 digit thread id (In bold blue). Your address should now look like this: https://www.healingwell.com/community/post.aspx?f=40& r=r& m=792339 &r=r&fp=s Your reply should now be in standard form. Its just a pity I cant work out how to do it properly!   Quote from Lawink: VERY HELPFUL djdaz - THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP.  AS YOU CAN SEE IT DOES THE TRICK. SEEMS LIKE I'LL HAVE TO DO THAT EACH AND EVERYTIME I POST THOUGH.  FUNNY, IT USED TO ALWAYS BE 'STANDARD FORM' UNTIL THE ONE TIME I CLICKED ON IT TO SEE WHAT WAS THERE AND THE DISABLED SIGN CAME UP AND WON'T LEAVE . OH WELL!  THANKS AGAIN   Quote from 7Lil (Co-Moderator for the IBS Forum) Darren, thanks so much for your help!!!! Lawink, we're still looking into a permanent fix for you. I've ask the site Admin for help so hang in there.    :) Thanks.... Lawink, djdaz & Lil   for this information... Hope this helps "YOU"....
