Has anyone had robotic surgery at Rush University Hospital in Chicago? I am thinking of using Dr. Christopher Cogan. Any thoughts? I am also considering going to the Henyr Ford Hospital in Michicgan. I would appreciate any advice.

I am not speaking firsthand, but some members here have had Dr. Menon at the Henry Ford Hospital perform their surgery. He is considered one of the top robotic surgeons anywhere and was one of the pioneers in performing this surgery. I would assume that he is very busy and you might have to wait longer to schedule surgery with him, but go for it!

What are your prostate cancer stats (i.e., PSA, Gleason score, DRE exam, stage of cancer, etc.).

68, Biopsy 9/27/06, Stage T1c, PSA 7.1, Gleason 6 [less than 5% in two areas], Gleason 7 (3+4) [less than 20% in third area], negative DRE, bone scan and MRI. Starting proton radiation therapy 2/22/07. Treatments completed 4/18/07.

Dear Glen,

Hello I am Kitt...........I know these kinds of decisions are always difficult.

I am going to post a little on ProstateCenter.com which is an informational site supported by the Texas Prostate Center (Baylor Hospitals in Dallas)

Dr. Slawin is the  Director of the Baylor Prostate Center, and has dedicated his  life to the improvement of care for patients with prostate disease. I hope this website provides some answers for your search  regarding prostate cancer  while providing a glimpse of some of Dr. Slawin's  exciting and novel work. In addition to text, this website contains links to scientific papers and presentations, surgical videos, electronic nomograms and other useful tools for patients and physicians.

 DrSlawin.com

I am sure you will find the right surgeon for you. Bless you.

Respectfully

Kitt
