Hi,
I had radical surgery on 2/20 and have been back to work for 4 weeks. There is lifting involved with my job but I am very careful how much I do. My fellow employee's are aware of my situation and are quick to help when I need it.
My question is in the area of incotinence. The first few weeks back to work I was having minimal leakage using 1 pad a day and nothing at night. But in the past week and a half the leaking has increased. Not dramatically but enough to notice. Evenings are still the same. Im still doing the same excercises (Kegel and walking).
Is this a normal thing to happen?
Bob

I agree with Kat's comment. However, worth mentioning on your next visit to the doctor if it's still occurring.

Bob,

I became dry at two months post op and then a month later started leaking again. Not much and one pad would have been enough for several days but it was enugh to force me to go back to using a pad. about the same time the leaking started I also began to have perineum aching again. This lasted for about three weeks and then the aching stopped and so did the leaking. It is normal for this to occur over the first few months after surgery. The internal healing and settling that occurs takes a while. One thing different the second time I became dry is that I also stopped having any type of stress incontinence.

Hang in there as it will get better over time.

Hi Bob: I was told that as the internal swelling goes down, the incontinence often comes back for a while Also, sensations that were not there before may be felt in that area with the absence of swelling. That's what happened to me and that's what my health pros said.
Hang in there. It gets better.
