Here's another book that I have not seen mentioned here:

"There's No Place Like Hope"
by Vickie Girard

Available at Amazon and most brick and mortar stores.
My wife and I have purchased at least 20 copies to share.
It's a wonderful book, I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks Gordy, Partial quote from Gordy to Sandy *belindafeathers thread: Husband's Advanced Prostate Cancer First thing to do is, if you don't already have one or more, get a book or books on PCa. Those by Scardino or Walsh or Stephen Strum are particularly good. Strum is great for explaining ADT, which is the therapy your husband is on with the Casodex and Lupron. They stop the body from producing testosterone which is what feeds the tumors. One of the side effects, and there are many, is osteoporosis. I believe what you called "Zebeda" is actually Zometa which is a heavy duty bone strengthener to help prevent the osteoporosis and also will help against the bone mets. Read, read, read books and make Google your best friend. And ask questions here and of the docs.     “A Primer on Prostate Cancer: The Empowered Patient's Guide”   (2 nd edition) by: Stephen Strum, MD, FACP                  Medical Oncologist Specializing in Prostate Cancer by: Donna L. Partial quote taken from  Ten Cancer Tips    thread started by TimG Hamilton Jordan, Chief of Staff for President Jimmy Carter, died of cancer today at age 63. He had prostate cancer, which was surgically removed, but died of another type of cancer.   Here are 10 tips for cancer patients from his book, No Such Thing as a Bad Day.  It is good stuff to remember for all of us.          "No Such Thing as a Bad Day": A Memoir        by Hamilton Jordan     Help support HealingWell by ordering from HW’s BOOKSTORE    Click here to order and to help support HealingWell.com http://www.wellnessbooks.com/cgi-bin/search.pl?Operation=ItemSearch&Keywords=no+such+thing+as+a+bad+day&SearchIndex=Books&templates=search     http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/156352578X/ref=sib_dp_pt#reader-link Look inside this book

It appears that this initial post was never completed by adding clickable links to it. You can write down the names of the books you are interested in and then click the wellnessbook.com post on the top left of the post (look for the yellow smiley icon) and then type in the title in the search box that comes up, that will take you directly to the book, and also lists other books containing the same search words, such as prostate cancer. Hope this kludge helps you get your books...

I haven't talked to my PCa doctor in well over a year; his control-freak PA keeps getting in the way.

But I have found Dr. Peter Scardino's Prostate Book to be a superb guide along the entire path so far.

Also, of course, online medical journal articles.  Not summaries of (or spins put on) medical articles by various official organizations and advocacy groups - the original medical journal articles themselves.

Hey Gibson00,

I'll get Mr. Waite (Admin) to check on this.  4 wks is way too long in my opinion!!  And could cause others not to want to order.... Thanks for ordering through the Wellness link.

Please let us know if (when) it arrives.... while this is being researched!

Thanks ~

Lee

Hopefully you will get some help at this link on Amazon!!

I would add: American Cancer Society's Complete Guide to Prostate Cancer by American Cancer Society .

The first book I read after diagnosis, and very helpful.

I'd like to put in a plug for my urologist's book, which I found to be very helpful:

The Complete Prostate Book: What Every Man Needs to Know

It's available on Amazon.
