I'm still having major problems urinating at night.  It's getting slightly better in that I didn't have to do the catheter last night.  Just spending a looong time standing at the toilet.

Yesterday, for no reason I can determine, my prostate started throbbing again and did so until I threw in the towel and took one of the Hyrdrocodones I was given at discharge.  It helped quite a bit.  I'm wondering if I should be more careful about what I eat, i.e., no spicy foods for a while?

I also keep getting really sleepy at times:  3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.  I have never been able to take afternoon naps, so the 3:00 p.m. thing is odd for me.  The 8:00 p.m. is also about two hours earlier than my normal crash time.  Neither of my docs said anything about fatigue, so I'm wondering if this is due to the seeds?  The fatigue is interfering with my work since I don't want to drive on sales calls when I'm dopey.

Any advice or info would be helpful.

Thanks!

REK:

My brother had seeds about one month ago.  His doctor has prescribed Flomax for his urination problems.

Thanks, gents.

I think I'm  going to call my uro today.  I had difficulty voiding before the procedure (I had a transurethral incision of the prostate--TUIP--in 2001 to ease urination) but it got worse again after my saturation biopsy in November, 2006.

I am taking Flomax in the morning and it helps for about 6 hours.  After that, it's frequent and painful, requiring me to cath myself two or three times a day to empty my bladder.  I expected incontinence not over-continence! sad

Fatigue is a direct result of the seeding - if you can, take the nap it helps wonders.  Flomax was my husband's best friend -he never had to cath.  Sorry you're having such a rough time during your recovery.

Best wishes for an easier road.

Gosh I hope you get over this problem quickly! I am a newby here and checking this site for my son who is scheduled robotic surgery July 10. Needless to say he is getting pretty nervous. This forum is new to me and I am skipping around like a frog! Sorry, I do not intend to be where I should not be.
I wish the best for all of you and I think PATIENCE is the key word here!!!!

Mom - you are never where you shouldn't be in here.  That's part of the support is all of us posting our thoughts, suggestions and support in each other's site.  You do need a post of your own to keep all Bob's information together, though.  Even if Bob doesn't actually come on the forum, but you keep feeding him the information you obtain in here he will still feel the support.

My husband (also a Bob) has never physically signed on to the forum, but daily says "what's new in the forum" and values all the information I've shared with him from here.

I saw my urologist and my internist yesterday.

First, I learned that sitting on car seats and medical office furniture is uncomfortable and has after effects.

Two, my uro says that my continued inability to urinate isn't too surprising since I was having voiding issues before the brachytherapy.  He told me to go to two Flomax per day and to continue with the catheter as needed.  The two Flomax is helping.  I'm still using the catheter at night.

Three:  God, I'm tired.  I'm sleeping like 16 hours a day.  I hope this goes away soon.  My boss is being amazingly tolerant.

Fourth:  According to my internist, my other chronic medical issues are well controlled.  He's a happy camper with his first grandbaby boy.

I'm going to go take my afternoon nap now.

I think now is when you are going to have to do what your body tells you to do - anything less would probably not help your healing.

So, take those naps and it won't be long until you will be back to the daily grind.

Take care,  Dutch

Well, I went clear till 10:00 p.m. yesterday without napping!

I only had to hit the head twice last night (I can now catheterize myself by the lumens of a nightlight!  :-)   ).  This was the first morning in four weeks that I have awakened without feeling bone-tired!

confused   So, I'm wondering if this is temporary or am I back to normal?  It will be four weeks tomorrow since I had the seeds planted.

Hi Rek3283,

Glad to hear your doing better. I remember watching an online interview with Guilliani who had seed implants and he also mentioned that he had to take frequent naps during his treatment. I believe he said it lasted several week.

Best of luck to you.
