naimnut: sounds as if you are having sustainable erections without the rings? if so, that's great! why bother using the ring at all then. as to why it should be avoided, i can't answer as far as how soon after surgery, because i didn't try the pump until a few months later. i assume part of the general answer is that the rings could cause trauma to the penis if you aren't careful. after a few months of using the VED and injections, i have developed a case of Peyronie's. a specialist i saw told me to hold off on the VED and injections to heal... a similar concern, i think.
pete42: sounds like you aren't getting a good seal? i had better luck after i went for the **** star look (at least that's what i've heard, never seen one!) and shaved everything clean. some lubricant on the edge of the VED helps establish a seal, as well as keeping it pressed against you. don't pump too hard, though, as that could damage the penis. when i first noticed some curvature in my penis (after the first successful injection), the person i was working with at my urologist's office told me to pump a little bit more per session to try to help with the curvature... now i wonder if that caused the peyronie's. i'd say if you get a usable erection, don't worry about
it leaving the floor of the pump.
