I hate to start a whole thread on rashes, but I'm getting desperate. I'm a month out from my surgery now, and while it seems like I've had a pretty remarkable erectile recovery (I was back to 80 to 90 percent almost right off that bat), I'm not able to take advantage of it because of diaper rash, which has extended to the testicles and lower side of the penis. Some days are worse than others. It wouldn't bother me nearly as much if it was just in the area where the leg meets the crotch, but as it is, I'm out of commission and itching like crazy.

Has anybody had success treating this? Is there something I should be doing, or avoiding? I try to stay half nude much of the time when I'm home, just so things can dry out. I was prepared for not having sex for a long time, and I was prepared to be incontent for a shorter time, but I wasn't prepared to be covered with itchy red sores.

Anyone?

Get a 16 0z container of Balmex.  Its for baby rash, so look in the baby products section of the drug store.   Slather it on and keep the affected areas covered in it until the problem is over.  Its the zinc oxide that does the trick.  Its thick and creamey and not too messy to use.   It should help you get through this uncomfortable time which won't last forever.

This worked for me and I'm sure it'll work for you.  Good luck.

Gator,

The generic version of Tinactin is cheap and works very well as both a barrier cream and it kills fungi that causes most rashes. I have found this medication much more reliable than other "jock itch" fungicides.

Your Friend,
