Dear Forum Family Members, As your Moderator…. I am here to help “monitor” for spammers, security when e-mail addresses are shown on postings, and following the Guidelines for Forum Rules.. v click here….> Forum Rules HealingWell Forum & Chat Rules and Guidelines I did have a concern about #18 and presented this to the Admin… Mr. Peter Waite. A copy of the original message sent to Mr. Waite…..is below…. I have decided to place the information here for all to see… I was not going to put this thread up after getting the response from Mr. Waite :) But a resent new thread (which had 65 views...has been graciously deleted by the member/moderator ~ who was following Rule #18)... is the only reason I forward forward with this. To recap the informaton below….. Forum Rule #18 will not be an issue for the Prostate Cancer Forum Members…. The information back from Mr. Waite will allow us to continue doing what we have been doing. In reference to Forum Rule # 18 No lengthy signatures. Limit signatures to 10 lines or less. Moderators will edit and/or remove signatures that are too long. Hi ~ Mr. Waite, Some of our members (Prostate Cancer Forum) have very detailed signature lines and it really is important for “all of us” to see… because of the nature of “Our Journey”. I would not like to edit and/or remove. My request would be for me to contact the individual member who have more than 10 lines (count includes blank lines in-between each line) via posting a note requesting they contact me at my HW e-mail address. I would then send them the following … xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Example / Sample e-mail to specific members: In keeping with the Forum Rule 18 No lengthy signatures. Limit signatures to 10 lines or less. Moderators will edit and/or remove signatures that are too long. Due to the length of your personal signature…. We ask that your 1 st posting on each thread have your “Profile Signature” complete signature showing. All future postings on this thread ~ please Click the check mark off in the options (Include signature) You have the option to do the following on your 2 nd , 3 rd , 4 th , etc posting If you wish to show a few specifics in future postings on this thread….you can copy and paste (a signature) you make on word document into your 2 nd posting... 3 rd posting…4 th etc…. The maximum length is 10 lines or less. Sign your name No signature Thank you for helping us to save valuable space on the forum server. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx This has been going through my head for some time and thought I’d present it to you. I will follow the directive that you set for “all forums”….. Thanks ~ Lee « bluebird ~ Moderator for Prostate Cancer Forum Partial Quote from Reply from Mr. Waite: I like your suggestion. If you use Quick Reply, it does get automatically added. It isn't so much the space issue that concerns me as much as all the extra scrolling involved when people have long signatures. Reply Posting from a **Moderator… Very interesting idea bluebird! I think not using signatures on 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc posts is a good idea and will save on scrolling down, down, down. I will try to do that myself. Although this does mean that I won't be able to use the quick reply... Or I'll have to edit my own posts... But I'll try to find a way to make it work :) “ Helpful Hint ” Reply posting from *bluebird Thank you ** for your input! I think you’ll find it quite easy if you make a file in a word document called Backup Signature . When you’re ready to sign-on to the forum…. Go to this file … Highlight your backup signature and right click ~ copy. (You can close this file now) This will allow you to have it readily available when you’re ready to post. (It’s ready to be pasted anytime you right click ~ paste) Click on Post Reply Type your message Place cursor where you want your signature to appear Right Click ~ Paste Your backup signature appears Click off the check mark (include signature) Submit Yippeeee!!! J Forum Family Members….It will be left up to you as to how you sign your postings. I will give a *bluebird “ Helpful Hint ” above for Backup Signature and below for short version signature … as to how it can work easily for you if you choose to do this for 2 nd , 3 rd , 4 th ,..etc…postings on each thread. Variables come into play with all rules… As long as we continue on the path that we have set for our Prostate Cancer Forum… We will stay at the top of the “GOLD STANDARD” for Forums. Thank you for being here for “YOU” and for “US”.. Remember … the Most Important thing is ….. You! Keep Posting!!!!! *bluebird’s short version signature In Friendship ~ Lee & Buddy appears as you type the first few letters…. In F (a box appears letting you know you can hit enter and the rest will be automatically filled in) Click on Format Click on AutoFormat Click on Options Click on tab: AutoText Enter AutoText entries here: In Friendship ~ Lee & Buddy Click on Add button Click on Close J P.S. FreezinginAK (Moderator)…. Thank you kindly for taking your thread off. Buddy & I will be visiting your beautiful state in September…. Cruisin’ the Alaskan Passage via Glacier Bay. Respectfully, Lee & Buddy « bluebird ~ Moderator for Prostate Cancer Forum edited to re-word the top section :) Post Edited (bluebird) : 7/22/2007 5:34:37 AM (GMT-6)

You go girl...
Thanks Lee. I do appreciate that if more information is needed to describe ones journey, it will show up in the signature or in the body of the posts regardless of the rules. Its just our nauture to want to express what we are feeling and the signature is a great
location to baseline our journey. If you have noticed I don't have a set signature. but i have recounted my journey numerous times and probably am a "hard drive abuser" with my adventure posted in several message bodies. Sorry to HW in advance. I understand the technology issue for a non-profit organization. I wish I'd hit the lottery tomorrow because I would easily donate seven figures to these guys to get the equipment needed to not be concerned with signature size, server crashes, and Chat reliability.

Well, here's a dissenting opinion. Signatures are important for quick refference when posting a reply. Having to look up a person's past threads to find info is a lot harder than "scrolling". Besides you can use the PgDn if you fingers get tired...

Hey ~ Biker & Friends, As Mr. Waite stated…. He has no problem with our signature lines! My main concern was getting the okay not to interfere with our signatures since it is one of the rules…. And our signatures are the history to “Our Journeys”…. And he’s 100% okay with this … So ~ keep posting just the way you are! I was not going to put this thread up ~ after I got his okay…. But a resent new thread (with 65 views... has been graciously deleted by the moderator who started it (following the guidelines)….. in reference to our long signatures ~ made me move forward with this new thread. To recap the informaton below….. Forum Rule #18 will not be an issue for the Prostate Cancer Forum Members…. It is extremely important for Newbies and Members with continuing treatments to have a Signature with updated information!!!!! We need signatures…. It let’s us know where you’ve been It let’s us know where you are now It let’s us know where we are headed!!!!! Keep posting ~ Biker ~ Thank you for making me re-think my wording in my postings.... I've gone in and edited some of them. Post Edited (bluebird) : 7/22/2007 5:25:42 AM (GMT-6)

Hey ~ Tony, Don't you dare stop posting exactly what you want and need to post for you and us!!!! It's important to reach as many people as possible and your postings certainly do! I understand now where Biker was coming from after giving it more thought through the night!!! Please ~ don't do anything different.... Okay... Imagine if we all put in $10.00 x 48,375 registered members….. what Mr. Waite could do with that!!!! That would definitely be a Yipppeeee!!!!! Yes ~ a nice windfall would be graciously accepted I’m sure. Caring is Sharing ~ Please donate.... click here: Help ~ HealingWell ~ Help "All of Us" www.healingwell.com/donate Hey ~ GreenAcres, Yes….. something like this response is where the shorter version can come into play….and since it's optional ~ we can make the decision!!! We do need to see the history because this is what we follow to continue our walk even when we are moving along into year 1 and year 2, etc! And this is where I catch the PSA testing dates usually!! I always get a huge smile on my face when I see you posting!!! Hugs dear friend… Hey ~ Biker, Thanks for having me re-think my wording.... because I knew if you reacted to it ~ something wasn't as clear as I thought... We luv ya man!!!! I remember when I found the ...Include signature check mark...(just recently actually).... and I started turning it off thinking I would save server space for "chat"...And with Mr. Waite's response it has no bearing on "chat".... we are all okay in doing what we need to do for "Our Journeys" to be complete and always available for the Newbies & Veterans. This is where I catch a lot of the PSA dates that are coming up.... Members, Please keep posting and updating your Signatures with new information!!! Edited to clear up a few of my postings.....
