Get out of Seattle area and enjoy sunny SoCal for a while. Proton therapy sounds like a great way to go...

Age 73. Diagnosed 11/03/06. PSA 7.05. Stage T2B Gleason 3+3.
RRP 12/7/06. Nerves and nodes okay.
Pathological stage: T2C. Gleason 3+4. Cancer confined to prostate.
PSA on 1/3/07 - 0.04. 
PSA on 4/4/07 - 0.00  T level - 48  Restarted T therapy.
PSA on 7/18/07 - 0.00 T level - 613
Nest PSA on 10/17/07
 "I have cancer but cancer does not have me."

PSA: 7.96, Positive DRE
Biopsy Right: 6 of 6 Cores Positive Biopsy Left: 1 of 6 Cores Positive
Gleason: 4+3 = 7 Stage: T2B N0 MX
3 mo. PSA Post Surgery: 11.8, 12.9, 13.9 Bone scan, CT scan, Endorectal MRI, Chest XR - neg.
9/06/06: 6 mo. PSA: 18.8 Distant lymph node involvement Start HT Lupron 3 mo. shots
12/06/06: PSA 0.8
03/07/07: PSA 0.3
06/06/07: PSA 0.1

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and well wishes. Had a good nights rest after driving for 2 1/2 days and am settling down in our little apartment.

Had some good news this morning regarding Aetna and disability payments for the time I am gone from work to recieve Proton treatment. They have agreed to make weekly payments starting this week, so that will help in a small way to mitigate my out of pocket expenses.

Thanks for being there for me and for all who visit this forum. You really make a difference. I will post to my other thread starting tomorrow as I start Proton treatment.

54 years old

PSA 5.6 on 3/20/07

DRE: Negative

Biopsy on 4/20/07 

Results 4/25/07:

3 out of 12 cores positive, 2 on the right lobe with 5% adenocarcinoma Gleason 3+3, 1 on the left lobe 10% adenocarcinoma Gleason 3+4, overall Gleason graded 7 Cancer T1C.  After web research discovered Proton Beam Therapy and called Loma Linda. Completed consultation with Dr. Luu on 7/5/2007 and will start Proton treatment on 7/26/2007 at Loma Linda. Now a full fledged BOB member. If you need to know ask and I will explain BOB to you.

Good luck on the beginning of your proton treatments. It's great news that your insurance is kicking in; now you can focus on the business of getting well. We all wish you a speedy recovery.


Diagnosed at age 60
PSA went from 2.2 to 3.8 in 14 months
2 of 14 cores positive at 10%
Gleason 6(3+3), negative DRE, neg. boundaries
DaVinci surgery on 02/23/06
