Hello again,

I have not posted for a while, but now have some more questions of the experienced group.  I am about 6 1/2 months out of DaVinci on Feb 8, 2007 and have not had any luck with Levitra or Viagra and very little result with cialis, but at least a little.  My wife and I have been getting by with the vacujet and that helps a lot, but it is not like before.  I tried the muse and it did not work and was very painful.  I have seen notes from one of you that finally got an erection after 9 months and that gives me hope.

I am scheduled to go into the SF VA office this Thursday, August 30, to try my first injection for ED and I would appreciate any input from those of you that have tried it.  I understand there are 2 or 3 different types of medication that can be used for the injection with various results and I am interested to find out what the opinions are as to which one is the best and what dosage.  How long does it take for the erections to begin after the injection and how long does it normally last?

I would appreciate any information.

Hi Motel - if you go to Bluebirds helpful hints (Posting #2 from top of page 1) you should be able to find the topic you're talking about. Give it a try! Also, this will bump you back to the top!

Good Luck,
Susan

Sorry Matt you won't make it home in time.  If I remember you live out in the Delta so you have a couple of hour drive. The injections begin to work for me immediatly and last for just over one hour. If it lasts longer than 4 hours the doctor wants to bring it down quickly.  That is somewhat unusual.

I started my injections three weeks ago and we are still working on the correct amount.  My doctor prescribes only the Caverject kits.  The injection is mostly painless, maybe a little ouch, but the problem is overcoming the thought of injections.

Some guys here are using the bimix and trimix injections.  They are less expensive but must be prepared by a compounding pharmacist. I plan to try those if I don't get the success I need with Caverject.  Some men complain of the pain and price with Caverject.  You do get an ache in the penis and scrotum, but for me, so far, it has been tolerable. I am getting the 20 mcg injections.

Good luck, I'm sure others will share their experience too.  If you have questions ...ask away.

Myman.  Thaks for the info.  I did not realize so much info was on Bluebirds site at the top of the page and I will read through all of that.  I wil lpost back when I finish reading all of the information.

Thanks again.

lifguyd, good to hear from you again.  I have not asked VA which type they use so I will check that out.  I didnt think I would make it home from VA so i guess I will have to do another shot here.  I dont like the idea of the injection, but I think it will be worth it and as they say "no pain, no gain" .

I had surgery on Feb 5th and tried the injections (prostaglandin) about two months later. I took the first injection in the doctors office 15 - and came home and had my first semi penetrating sex. After that on the doctors recomendation I raised the to 20 then to 25 to acheive better results. about a month in - one evening after I had taken it (25)and had sex with my wife I found that the erection would not go away. I got up and started doing some office work and still it would not go away. about 3 hours later I went to the local hospital emerg and after waiting got in. The pain was unbeleivable. They put me on an IV and gave me some pain killers that helped to numb the pain and called in my urologist to give me some sort af adrenylin shots into my penis - it had been 5 hours post sex at this point. Finally it went down and I went home with a black and blue penis and one heck of a head ache. I was quite gun shy after this and have slowly started to use it again NEVER MORE THAN 15. This seems to work fine now as I think/hope that things are becoming more responsive. The doctor warned me that this might happen but said that in 25 years he has not seen it happen. Just to let you know I also just tried Viagara with no penetrable success.

Hope this information helps you

Too Young,

Thanks for the info.  Forgive me for not knowing enough about all of this injection stuff as I am still learning, but what is prostaglandin?  I assume it is one of the injected solutions they use. I have heard of the trimix and the caverjet, but not the prostaglandin.

When I hear the cialis commerecials about having an erection for more than 4 hours I always joke that if I ever had an erection for 4 hours I would call in the neighbors to show it off, but I never thought of the pain and such and how bad that would be.  I guess I better quit joking about it.

Thanks,

Mat

Hello Mat

I'm not sure exactly what the prostglandin is just that it was something that I needed to go to a specific drug store for as they were the only ones in the area capable of mixing it up. I think that is much the same as trimix etc. It does work quickly but I find that it is still not easy to give myself the needle, even though it does not really hurt. I do find that post sex there is some pain from this, and likely during as well but I never notice. The pain lasts for about an hour after plus or minus. The viagara that I have taken seems to get me somewhat aroused but just doesn't do it for me yet. After the one painful night I was hoping that this would work better as I told myself that I was not going to do the injections ever again. But I eventually succombed devil .

I did have one time were I injected 25 and had no real effect. I likely missed the spot with the needle which they say should be 10 and 2 on the penis and fairly close to the base, being sure to miss any visible veins.

I hope that this helps you, and that I never went rambling on about myself too much.

Tooyoung
