New member: Pain like a pulled muscle

This is my first post. I am 58. I had the Da Vinci procedure on July 19. Post surgery report was fine and cancer appears to be gone with no need for radiation treatment. First PSA after was 0.2.

I had almost no complications, was out of the hospital the next day catheter removed in a week. Some blood in urine, but not for a few days now. I still get a burning sensation sometimes when urinating.

But my big question is this. I cannot get an erection -- I know this is not unusual and it may correct itself with time. But in circumstances when I would have gotten an erection pre-surgery, I now get a dull pain. It feels most like a groin muscle pull though it is more to the front of the body. I thought at first it was a muscle pull, but by experimenting, I'm sure it's not. I can make it come on with erotic thoughts so I'm pretty sure it's erection (or lack thereof) connected. Like a groin pull, it can be not really noticeable, until I stand up or walk. The pain persists for hours -- the rest of the day is not unusual. It is invariably gone the next morning.

I did mention it to the surgeon. He seemed not concerned, but could not really offer an explanation. Has anyone else experienced anything like this

I would have to agree with Tony.  You just have to be patient for these things to work themselves through during the healing process.  The pain is probably normal.  I understand it can take months to begin have erections occur "naturally."  The good people in this forum will help you in your journey as you "hang in there" and continue to ask questions.

I want to thank all the responders. I can live with the pain. I was just worried it was a sign of something I should worry about.

Bluebird, would a hernia manifest itself most of the time, and not just when I was dong things like cuddling with my wife?

Bluebeard, I've thought about what you said and realized that when I mentioned this to the surgeon (three weeks ago now after the first couple of times) he did a hernia check on me. I didn't really think about it at all at the time other than remembering that I covered myself because I was so afraid when I had to cough for him, I'd let loose so to speak. So he was thinking alone the same lines as you, I guess.

He didn't say anything though so I'm guess he thought not.
