Elgard 45 is a 6 month version of the Lupron shot, which is typically given every three months.
I had the Lupron injections, which I HATED. My behind hurt for days, making it uncomfortable for days, and the hot flashes and unexpected tear bouts were difficult to deal with. They tended to taper off towards the end of the tree months.
There are other hormone treatments, including Casodex, which I am taking. I take two 50mg pills a day. I started with 3 a day, which I took for several years before my urologist cut me back to two. The pills are very tiny, and MUCH better than a shot in the behind. The side effects are far less, also.
You might talk to your doctor about
Casodex, although I know that most doctors like to give Lupron for a year or two. Not sure of the resoning, other than it most likely has shown good results. Can't argue with that.
