Hey all,

I posted a while ago about my father being prescribed Tofranil to help with incontinence and thought I would give a short update on his progress.

He is 15 weeks post surgery, has been more incontinent than he wants to be...maybe 2-4 pads a day?? Depending on how active he is...he has an appointment at an incontinence clinic in January.

He started Tofranil on Wed. the 7th, and yesterday (Sunday) when I saw him he told me that he had used the same pad for about 24 hours and it was "barely wet" and pretty much the same thing on Sat. He must have thought it was pretty good since he brought up the topic to me and usually I am the one to ask him.

Is it the Tofranil? Is it natural recovery? or Is it just a "dry spell"? Of course we don't know yet it could be any of those things or a combination of them!! But I thought I would report since I know others may be interested in the "Tofranil".....he is actually using the generic form.

Thought I'd update those who want to know about my Dad's use of Tofranil.

He's been on it for a little over a month and has been using less than 1 pad per day.

He made an appointment with an incontinence clinic before he went on Tofranil as he was using 4-5 pads per day, he's still planning on keeping the appointment, but he feels that he really doesn't need it anymore.

He noticed improvements after about 3 days on Tofranil.  His surgery was the end of August 2007.  It could be just timing or it could be that the Tofranil made a difference, he probably won't know for sure until he tries to wean himself off.  He's not complaining of any noticeable side effects from the med.
